'Grandmothers are geared toward feeling what their grandchildren are feeling when they interact with them.'
The love a grandmother has for her grandchildren is beyond what words could ever fathom — they love you in ways no one else can or will ever fulfill in your life. From cooking your favorite dishes to planning funny pranks to scare others, grandmothers are the ultimate bundle of joy. Gracey — who goes by the username @graceyschreibs on Instagram — shared a video of her grandmother gifting all her grandchildren personalized gifts with a secret element.
Gracey’s grandmother, whom she calls “Nan,” sat in a living room with her grandchildren of varying ages, spending a leisurely time enjoying their presence. The kids looked surprised when she opened a box full of mugs and handed one out to each for Easter — the bigger surprise, however, was the personalized touch on each of them. Each mug featured one of the kids' name, along with a quality of theirs that Nan cherished.
One of the kids, Sophee, received a cup with a message from her grandma, stating that she loves how organized and skilled she is, along with being focused on fitness and a great marathon runner. Similarly, Abee is explained to be thoughtful and kind, while Lucie is called out for being obsessed with barbeque sauce — their Nan surely has a sense of humor! Another kid got a mug reading “thinks he is a good fisher.” This wholesome gesture proves how much a grandmother loves her generational flagbearers, while also remembering every little detail about each of them and teasing them like no tomorrow.
A study by Leslie Ramos Salazar and others suggests that grandkids who receive grandma's affection are more inclined towards the well-being process by engaging in health behaviors. In contrast, those who do not receive such adequate affection might suffer health issues in adulthood. Another study by Emory University researchers, published in the Proceedings of the Royal Society B, states that grandmothers are more likely to love their grandchildren more than their adult children. They experimented by using MRIs to read their brain signals while viewing pictures of their grandchildren, only to find that the responses were stronger than when they looked at photos of their own children.
James Rilling stated in a press release that the “cute factor” may play an important role. "What really jumps out in the data is the activation in areas of the brain associated with emotional empathy," Rilling said. "That suggests that grandmothers are geared toward feeling what their grandchildren are feeling when they interact with them."
After watching the wholesome video, viewers had a lot to say. @brittkerle appreciated, “The fact that she has taken the time to know each of them so well,” while @jodi_brom exclaimed, “I want to read every mug. Nan, you Rock!” @traciecannon14 expressed, “‘Thinks he’s a good fisherman.’ My grandparents have been gone since 1985, 1991, 2003, 2010, & I will miss them for the remainder of my days. Precious video,” and @rachelpaul1234567 shared, “This makes me miss having living grandparents so so much! How absolutely adorable, I’d sob if someone got me something personalized like that!”
