Grandfather's reactions to his daughter visiting him with and without his grandson are so on point

Meeting any member of one’s family always brings immense joy and smiles. The moment the door opens and you see your loved one standing there, the rush of emotions and warmth is too pure and unmatchable. A recent viral TikTok video compiled by @pubity shows Esther (@esthernnennaya) visiting her father on different occasions and the moments are captured with a hilarious twist. Esther’s post shows how her father reacts upon opening the door to find just his daughter standing there versus when he opens the door to find his grandson along with his daughter.

The video, titled “This is how I get looked at when I come without his grandchild,” begins with Esther standing outside her father’s house, which has a beautiful wooden door with a glass design in the center. Esther’s father opens the door, quickly scans Esther from top to bottom and turns back to walk away. He does signal her to close the door behind her, but apart from that, he doesn’t indulge in any pleasantries or greetings and simply walks on. Cut to the next video titled “When I come with him,” and Esther shows up with her son and the door opens to a completely ecstatic version of her father, who goes, “Oh my god!” and starts giggling with joy like a child himself. He quickly walks all the way out of the door, steps down and takes his grandson into his arms, giggling all the way.

The happiness on his face is the complete opposite of the indifference he expressed when it was just his daughter at the door alone. The grandparent walks proudly inside with the baby and Esther says, "Daddy, say 'Hi' to me first." That's when the father turns and says, "Hi!" The father is happily cuddling the baby and when Esther asks him whether he likes “EJ’s haircut," he replies, “Yeah!” He can be seen half sobbing out of the joy of holding his grandson in his arms.

The vast difference in the welcoming of his daughter alone versus welcoming his daughter and his grandson makes for an uplifting, hilarious watch. The video was widely shared on Reddit, TikTok and Instagram. Reddit and TikTok were overwhelmed with joy and expressed their feelings in the comments section. @jombantu.org commented, “I thought he was gonna close the door when he sees no grandchild.” Another user, @kevinnporras, commented, “How dare you show up empty-handed!” Reddit users shared their similar, relatable experiences. u/StoneOfTriumph said, “1000% I am living this and it's as if my parents suddenly forgot how they parented me and my brother.” u/zgamer200 said, “The good old, 'If you raise your kids, you can spoil your grandkids, but if you spoil your kids, you'll raise your grandkids' comes to mind.”

The comments section has proven that what happened with Esther is not exclusive to her and many others out there have experienced the same when they bring their children with them to their parents' homes.
