While many will remember the Oscars 2025 for stunning performances, one heartwarming moment that unfolded at the gathering has fans moved. It was Andrew Garfield paying tribute to his late mother. The British-American anchor was accompanied by Goldie Hawn on the grand stage to announce the winners of the "Best Animated Short Film" and "Best Feature Film" categories, per ABC News. Before doing the honors, he turned to his celebrated co-presenter to thank her. Hawn was surprised when the “Spider-Man” star started acknowledging her contribution to his mom’s life, making her all emotional. An endearing video from the award ceremony left millions with a tear-jerking moment.

As soon as he began talking about his late mom, Lynn Garfield, the lively audience fell into a pin-drop silence, joining the actor in his grief. Notably, the 41-year-old actor’s mother had passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2019, as reported by Buzzfeed. But for him, remembering the good side of things in his spirited voice cheered up the gathering. “Goldie, Goldie, Goldie, can I tell you something really quickly?” he told his co-presenter. What happened next was pure joy, with him lauding the actress for sticking with his mom in her good and bad times. The 79-year-old Hollywood veteran was visibly surprised and later moved by Garfield’s humbling gesture.

“There’s a person who gave my mother, during her life, the most joy, the most comfort, and I feel very lucky because I get to thank that person from the bottom of my heart. That person is Goldie Hawn,” the “We Live in Time” actor said during the introduction. Hawn was seen fighting back tears as she thanked him for his kind words. “Thank you, sweetie, that really touches me,” she responded. Thereafter, the actor honored his late mom by admiring her presence, even though she was no longer around. “I can feel her smiling at us at this moment,” he went on, receiving loud applause from the audience.

Even Hawn agreed that she still carries Lynn’s memories wherever she goes. When Garfield mentioned he had more to say, she quipped, “Oh! You do?”

“You’ve given us movies full of joy, you’ve lifted our spirits, and you’ve made us feel that all is right with the world over and over and over again,” the “Silence” star continued, thanking Hawn for her contribution to the world of cinema. At this point, the actress, who is known for some of her remarkable performances like in “Death Becomes Her,” acknowledged her achievements and felt “so lucky” to get to make movies.

“I feel and consider myself lucky for making people laugh,” remarked Hawn, as she quipped, “Maybe some didn't, but that's okay.” Later, she jokingly excused herself from reading out loud from the teleprompter, citing her vision problem. The spontaneous on-stage moment drew attention on social media, with people loving their unique bond.

Among the countless reactions it received, @LoriCam9 wrote, “It was sweet, gracious, and a rare moment of authenticity in Hollywood. She was clearly very touched, as anyone would be to hear what they did mattered that much to his mom. He blessed her heart with that moment of kindness.” @CaTrHeel added, “She’s such a kind soul, and her mother, Kurt, and Oliver were in another office. I had the pleasure of knowing all three of them at a dental office where I worked in the mid-'80s. They were always happy and radiant whenever I bumped into Goldie."
