Getting rejected from your dream college after putting in the maximum of your brain, time and effort is not a situation anyone wants to be in. Rejection, in all forms, is disheartening and can make you feel dejected and hopeless. All those months of juggling between classes and extracurricular activities might seem like all for nothing, but you should keep looking at the brighter side. A positive attitude and understanding of what you learned from these rejections will get you through these times. It's rightfully said, "Rejection is redirection," and TikTok user @samyangussy could not agree more. It is the season for college admissions, and Sam, a high school student, has charmed the internet with her uplifting disposition.

According to InTheKnow, Sam posted a compilation video where she reads rejections from a series of colleges she applied to. “POV: Getting rejected from colleges,” her video caption reads. “You know what they all say... rejection is redirection!!!!!” Her response to the first rejection letter from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign was that it was "not a big deal.”

As the 56-second video progresses, Sam also receives rejections from Grinnell College, the Catholic University of America, the University of California, San Diego, Case Western Reserve University, the University of Southern California and the Georgia Institute of Technology. “I’m literally getting rejected left and right. Holy s***,” she adds.

Her positivity struck with students in the comments, who applauded Sam for taking the rejections like a champ. "Never seen a video of people getting rejected, usually only accepted. This brings me comfort, I still have a couple more years, but this is reassuring," commented one TikTok user. "Seeing you laugh and smile regardless, brings me hope for you. You’re a strong bright girl, they’re missing out," added @jnkiete3ngrl.

"I love how you continued to smile even though you got rejected. It’s so powerful to have a growth mindset," wrote @bigchunkas123. "You're still a goat for applying to so many schools and not letting it discourage you," penned @spiritualceo.

One TikTok user even asked Sam to post an acceptance video, and she delivered. In another TikTok video, she reads an acceptance letter from the University of Washington and subsequently commits to it. "Congrats! I lived like 20 mins from UW and got rejected, they’re a tough school," commented @jamisynmaes. "UW is a great school. You should be proud. Congrats," exclaimed @ftanac. "Seattle Washington is one of the best colleges in my opinion and a very good job in getting in," added @demetrius_demarcus22.

Although it is all fun and smiles, there is a life lesson that is particularly hard to swallow, and that is where ego meets regret. You spent hours researching and analyzing, all in hopes of getting into your dream school, but when it is not in the cards for you, there is no point in overthinking.

While it is understandably difficult to deal with rejection, an important lesson to start learning early is that things won't always happen in your favor. But the bright side is that when one door closes, another opens automatically.
