Amber (@ambiebambie914) from New York never imagined that her college final exams would also turn out to be the finale of her relationship with her boyfriend, but that, sadly, was exactly what happened to her. Well, suspicion that was already creeping into her mind caught fire when she visited her boyfriend’s apartment right after her papers. Inside the refrigerator, she found a half-emptied bottle of tequila and two glasses in the dishwasher that further confirmed what she had been doubting all along. In a July 24, 2026 video, Amber recalled how a suspicious contact on her boyfriend's phone led her to a stranger's TikTok account — and ultimately ended their relationship on the spot. Her video has received over 59,000 views on her page.

It was Amber's boyfriend’s birthday, and the deadline of her finals assignment was also approaching. For the past couple of days, she had been having a "super-sketchy" feeling about him, especially after he stopped updating his location. Nevertheless, Amber directed her mind away from the suspicion and put her entire focus on completing her assignment. However, things changed when, on the day of submission, she finally visited her boyfriend's apartment to celebrate his belated birthday with a cake. Something felt off, so she went into complete investigative mode. "I was like, there’s something fishy going on here," she recounted in the video.
TikTok exposed his affair
Amber's hunch turned true when she opened the fridge and found a half-finished tequila bottle inside. She knew her boyfriend couldn't have drunk that much, but she ignored it until she walked past the dishwasher. Amber noticed two glasses, suggesting that someone had entered his house while she was away. "I asked him, I am like, 'So, what did you do today? Did you have anyone over?'" she recalled, but her partner refused.
Doubtful, Amber immediately read between the lines and decided to check her boyfriend’s phone. An unknown contact number led her to a TikTok account where a girl had posted montages of how she spent the last 24 hours traversing New York City. Every single place that she'd shared confirmed her suspicions more and more. The final stroke was the picture of a rooftop, patio, and city view. "It was literally his apartment," Amber recalled, begrudgingly.
Infidelity crisis
In a September 2019 study published in the College Student Journal, researchers documented the responses of 11,497 college students for a 100-item survey related to deception in undergraduate romantic relationships. And surprisingly, nearly 44% of the participants reported cheating on their partners and over two-thirds (69%) reported lying to their partners about their previous relationships.
Similarly, College Pulse also surveyed a sample of 605 college students and found that almost 1 in 10 (9%) have cheated on their significant other. Notably, males were more likely to cheat than their female counterparts, as per the research. While the statistics show that, unfortunately, infidelity isn’t that uncommon, not everyone is as lucky as Amber when it comes to uncovering it.
