10-year-old couldn't stop crying after her neighbor sold the horse she loved — until she discovered buyer's identity
Taryn's stepdad was always against getting a horse, but her love for Loki changed his mind.
Taryn, a 10-year-old girl, befriended her neighbor's adorable black pony almost immediately after he arrived. She used to love spending time speaking to Loki, the horse, over the fence; in fact, it soon became a daily ritual. However, the teenager faced her biggest nightmare in August 2023 when the lady decided to sell the horse to someone else. When Taryn heard about it, she was devastated and couldn't stop crying. Her mom, who goes by @omgitsjenna on TikTok, shared her reaction on the platform.

Our neighbor across the street bought a black mustang pony in May. our daughter was instantly in love. our daughter fed him a carrot or an apple everyday and spent time talking to him over the fence. in August, the neighbor decided to sell the pony. a girl named Savannah was going to buy him after Labor Day weekend but unfortunate circumstances prevented it. my husband has always told us he'd never allow a horse. last week he shocked us all when he said "I think we should get the horse". while our daughter was away for the weekend with her dad, we worked out a deal with the neighbor, and signed a bill of sale. I went to meet a girl from marketplace to buy some used tack, and the seller ended up being Savannah, the girl that WAS going to buy the pony. she is SUCH a sweet girl. I felt awkward and horrible in that moment of realization. I told Savannah that she can come by whenever she wanted. Savannah trained horses. she offered to help our daughter do some training with the pony, since my daughter wants to be a horse trainer someday. so the neighbor and I devised a plan to surprise my daughter. Taryn loved Loki with all her heart, and her neighbor, as well as her family, knew it. So, when her stepdad heard about the neighborhood lady's decision to sell the horse, he immediately decided to buy it. It was a bit shocking because Taryn's stepdad was always against getting a horse, but her love for Loki changed his mind. While the teenager was spending time with her dad, her mom and her stepdad spoke to their neighbor and decided to get Loki home. In a miraculous turn of events, Taryn's mom came face-to-face with Savannah, the girl who was supposed to buy the pony at a marketplace. However, instead of being angry, she, also a professional horse trainer, was kind enough to offer to train Taryn with the pony. "So, the neighbor and I devised a plan to surprise my daughter," her mom wrote.
The neighbor pretended in front of Taryn and explained to her that Savannah had sold Loki to a really nice couple just the day before. The teenager, heartbroken by the news, started crying, unaware of the surprise. The lady hugged Taryn and finally broke the news: the new owners of Loki were nobody but her stepdad and her mom. The teenager continued to cry, but this time from happiness. "He's yours, honey," the neighbor announced, hugging Taryn. Soon enough, the little girl ran towards Loki to walk him home.
A survey of 2,000 parents observed that nearly three-quarters of kids start asking for a pet around the age of 6. In fact, once the kids realize they want a pet, they don't stop. Surprisingly, the same survey by OnePoll found that kids continue requesting a pet around 11 times a month, on average, and almost 80% of them want a dog. However, not every parent can afford to have a pet; while some may lack resources, others may not be ready to take on a new responsibility. Fortunately, everything worked out well for Taryn, who was blessed to have people who understood her love for her dear pony.
