Heartfelt video captures daughter breaking down after stepfather opens up about the love he’s always carried for her

Troy Allen (@_troyallen) met his stepdaughter when she was 1, and since then, they have had a wonderful relationship. In fact, the little girl knew Allen wasn't her real dad, but that didn't really change the bond they shared. In a video posted in March 2023, Allen captured his daughter's reaction to his heartfelt confession, and it's genuinely tear-jerking.
"How old are you?" Allen asked his stepdaughter, and she replied 6. He went on to share that she was only 1 when he met her for the first time and asked if she knew what that meant. "I am not your real dad, am I?" Allen asked, and the girl responded with a no. The stepdaughter was already aware of their relationship and understood that Allen was her stepfather and not the real one. "I want you to know that no matter what, even though you don't have my blood in that beautiful little heart, you will always mean the world to me. And I will always protect you," Allen spoke, looking into her eyes. Moreover, he assured her that no matter what happens between him and his partner, their bond will never be affected by it. "You will always be my little girl. Love you," Allen said, and that was it; overwhelmed with love, the girl broke down in tears.

Unlike most fictional stories, not all stepparents are evil. In fact, many share a beautiful relationship with their stepparents, and at times, you wouldn't even be able to recognize that they weren't related by blood. A poll of 5000 people for charities Relationships Scotland and Relate found that more than half ( 61%) of step-parents actually reported good relationships with their children. Moreover, they found that stepmothers find it a little difficult to establish a good relationship with their stepchildren than the stepdads. Meanwhile, reacting to Troy's heartfelt confession, @weserati commented, "Naw, brother. That's your daughter because you stepped up for her. You’re doing the work of a million guardian angels." Similarly, @lailahbear2011 shared, "My heart was warmed when he was telling her this, and then she started crying, and my heart melted, and I had tears streaming down my face."
