Digital evidence often exposes the truth when someone least expects it, and Zachary Cummings (@zacharycummings), a content creator from Miami, can definitely vouch for it. On May 8, 2026, he took to Instagram to recount how he found out his ex-girlfriend was lying to him during a segment on his ''The Journey Podcast.'' After locating her on Snapchat, Cummings confronted his ex-girlfriend, and she told him she was vacationing with her grandma. She even sent him photos of her Airbnb as evidence. However, scrolling through Instagram, Cummings stumbled upon his girlfriend's ex, and a tiny detail in the picture exposed their secret vacation. The video has received over 181,000 likes on his page.

Backyard déjà vu

Cummings had trusted his girlfriend when she said she was in Puerto Rico with her grandmother. Moreover, she was sending him photos from her Airbnb, making it nearly impossible for him to suspect anything. However, that changed when Cummings received a friend suggestion on Instagram. He immediately recognized the man as his then-girlfriend's ex. When Cummings saw the profile picture, he went, "D*mn, that looks familiar." Curious, he clicked on the ex's profile only to find out it was private. But Cummings could still see it. "I zoom in, and I'm like, 'Hm, I feel like I just saw that backyard,'" he said.

Detective mode: activated

Putting on his detective cap, Cummings exited Instagram and opened his Snapchat. He pulled up the photo of the backyard his ex-girlfriend sent and started comparing the two. Almost like playing a game of 'Spot the difference,' Cummings said, "So there's an overhang, and I'm looking at the wood slats on the overhang. I'm like, 'Wait, that's the same wood slats.' And then I look at the bush, and I'm like, 'That's the same bush.'" He checked the pool and noticed it had the same tiles and stones. That's when it clicked. His ex was on vacation with her ex, and the whole grandma story was made up. Cummings texted her immediately, saying, "Yo, you're funny as f*ck," to which she replied two days later, "Laughing my a*s off, thanks."

Spying on cheaters

Cheaters may think they’ve covered their tracks, but a little detective work can actually expose them in no time. A BonusFinder.com survey cited on Study Finds found that 12.8% of respondents found out about their partner's infidelity after some form of spying. While 21.80% discovered it by tracking their location online, 18.20% checked their social media accounts, and 16.60% through their mobile records or bills. In Cummings' case, he discovered his ex-girlfriend's ex's Instagram account accidentally, but after a little snooping, the two photos confirmed she was cheating.

Meanwhile, netizens were shocked at how apathetic Cummings' ex-girlfriend was after he texted her. For instance, @gmny803 commented, "Instagram out here doing the Lord's work." Similarly, @josuejusjoshin added, "She was never your girl if you're finding out she's in Puerto Rico, and not knowing before she left."
