Instead of confronting him, Waller played along. She asked him to read out the texts he'd sent another woman

Cheaters mostly rely on a facade of behaviors or devices to hide their real personality. But one slip-up is often enough to expose their lie. Similarly, Madison “Mads” Waller (@madisonjwaller) uncovered a sad reality about her partner during a St. Patrick’s Day party she had hosted at home. Well, she was only scrolling through her boyfriend's phone to show her friend, Kelly, some photos when she stumbled upon a naughty text that instantly exposed his affair. In a June 16, 2026, Instagram post, she captured the story of what she called a "role play night," and the video, she said, is “unhinged advice” on how to dump a cheating boyfriend. Her post has received over 14,000 views on her page.
Kelly and her boyfriend arrived quite late to the party. However, she requested a quick tour of their Chicago house, and Waller agreed. As they made their way to the rooftop, Kelly started questioning her about her boyfriend. Excited, Waller decided to show her some of their pictures. Since she had left her phone downstairs, she pulled her boyfriend's phone and went straight to his gallery. Waller was scrolling through pictures when she saw a naughty photo on his phone that was definitely not hers. Moreover, she also found inappropriate text messages on her boyfriend's phone.

Waller immediately suspected a certain girl, knowing that her boyfriend had a past with her. At night, her partner slouched down on the bed, exclaiming, "What a night!" Instead of confronting him right then and there, Waller played along. She sarcastically tickled him on the elbow and answered, "Baby, tonight isn't over yet. We are going to role-play." Waller tossed him the phone and told him to read the script, the same lines he had communicated to the other woman. Her partner turned “ghost white” and started bawling. After they had mimicked the conversation, she packed her things and moved out. “I broke up with my cheating boyfriend in the most savage way possible,” Waller described in the video.

With cheating cases increasing globally, a report by the Institute of Family Studies has found that men are more likely to cheat in relationships than women. In fact, the General Social Survey (GSS) revealed that 20% of men had sex with someone other than their partner while still in a relationship. Infidelity, the research says, is “painful and detrimental” to the relationship. Now, interestingly, while Waller could easily decide to walk away from her cheating boyfriend after catching him red-handed, a YouGov survey found that 67% of Americans who had cheated in a relationship said their relationship didn't end even after their partners knew about their infidelity.
Meanwhile, in the comments, viewers started sharing similar experiences from their own lives while reacting to Waller's story. For instance, @dianehharder shared, “I made him update his Facebook status to say ‘I’m sorry I cheated on you, Diane.’” Similarly, @heidipatriciavoigt said, “I called his family.”
