They say kindness is like a boomerang — when you show it in a way, you receive it in abundance. Well, Casey and Mario's wholesome story is an example of kindness finding its way back, in the form of life-altering service. As reported by Sunny Skyz on August 26, when Mario helped Casey pay for his $3 drink, as the latter had forgotten his wallet in the truck, Mario wouldn't have anticipated that his small gesture would change his life forever.

Casey Marlow from Douglasville, Georgia, who was at a convenience store to purchase a drink, realized he had not brought his wallet. However, Mario, who was standing behind him in the line, stepped up to pay for his drink. Soon, when the two men struck up a conversation, Casey realised that the man helping him was going through some hardships in his life. Casey learnt that Mario and his family were evicted from their home and have been living in a motel, with Mario working to make ends meet.

Casey, who wanted to return the favour, took to his social media handle to share the story and requested his followers for help. "Together, we can make a big impact," Casey said, urging others to help. Surprisingly, in less than 24 hours, people from across he globe rallied behind Casey's request and helped him raise over $35000 for Mario and his family. Marlow, who was grateful for the community joining hands with him to help Mario, called himself "just a messenger."

Mario, who was deeply moved by the support, expressed his deep-felt gratitude towards Casey through a phone call. Thanking god, he expressed his joy over the support he received, while also continuing to uphold his values of kindness and generosity at every point of his life. In his phone call to Casey, he revealed, "Casey, I knew God would provide for us somehow. I didn’t know how, but I look at my kids in the eyes every day and promise them that we will be okay. I’ve been driving my wife and kids past the house we got evicted from regularly, reminding them that God provided for us back then and that He would provide again when the time was right."

While Casey intended to return the favor Mario had done, it has been proven in the study 'Kindness Can Have Unexpected Positive Consequences' by Amit Kumar in December 2022, that small acts of favours can have ripple effects where not just the immediate recipient is benifited, but the generocity of one person can lead to people being kind to more anonumous others, just the way social media users joined Casey in raising funds for Mario. As per the study conducted through 1000 participants, being generous to others showcased 25% more happiness in the participants, proving how people undervalue the impact when the recipient is a stranger.
