Worklife balance has become a major topic of discussion on the internet lately. While many people have started quitting their jobs due to toxic work conditions, one Gen Z woman has a fresh perspective on how jobs can create a proper work-life balance. She believes a workday should be from 9 AM to 1 PM for a particular reason. Jenna, who goes by @doughnutwithsprinkles on TikTok, shared her hot take on work hours and made a strong case for part-time workdays.

"Hot take: I think that more employers should start offering 9 AM to 1 PM jobs," Jenna says in a video. "Like, very part-time, but also like a Monday to Friday job." She explained, "I have been working my 9 AM to 1 PM, four hours, account manager office job, Monday to Friday for almost a year now." She added that she used to work a typical 8 AM to 5 PM job for nine months in the city before this. This included the commute and everything. "I feel like my boss recognizes how much you can actually get done in that 9 to 1 window," Jenna reflected. She has also noticed that in the 8 to 9-hour workday, once people get back from lunch "you might get a meeting or two or do some things in between."

"If you have like four dedicated hours of work you can get the same amount of work done versus stretching it over an 8 AM to 5 PM day. Then you get back home and you are commuting home you are so exhausted that you don't want to do anything," Jenna reasoned. "Having a schedule like this has really allowed me to achieve that full-on work-life balance that everybody talks about." However, she clarified that her 9-to-1 job is not the only thing she does. "I am not just going home and sleeping the whole day. I do a styling business [and] content creation, I do a bunch of other side stuff," she revealed.

"I couldn't even imagine, truly, I could never go back to doing a 9 to 5 job because it is brutal," the woman remarked. She also revealed that her mental health has improved because of the change in her schedule and that she is overall much happier than before. "I can't even believe that I stayed in that job for 9 months. I was absolutely miserable. I thought, 'Is this how life is after college?'" Jenna realized that she simply wouldn't have been able to continue. "The other stuff that I do that fills my cup like running errands and getting things done is actually crazy during 1 to 5 while other people are still working," she said, wondering why more employers don't offer 9-to-1 jobs.

She feels that more people should do this and realize that they actually don't need to work 9 to 5. Her video took the platform by storm, garnering over 800k views, with people flocking to the comments section to express their opinions. @mattearose92 wrote, "I just quit my 9-5 job because it was destroying my mental health. This is my sign that it was the right move." @sirdukethecorgi commented, "I also hate a mandatory lunch. I’d rather leave an hour earlier." @mabelsimmons911 remarked, "Because no corporation or business deserves so much of our day and overall life span."
