With new fields of work emerging all the time, it might not be realistic to expect everyone to understand careers outside their own industry. Especially when someone has a large group of friends working in diverse professions, it can be difficult to keep track of what everyone does. At the same time, it can get tedious for a person to repeatedly explain what they do for a living. To solve this, a group of friends decided to organize a career night so everyone could better understand what each person did. A woman named Casandra (@cashmula209) shared a video of the night on TikTok.

"Hosting a career night because nobody knows what each other does for a living," the text overlay read. The video showed a large TV, allowing everyone to easily give presentations about their job to a room full of people who had made themselves comfortable on sofas and chairs. Each friend gave an elaborate presentation explaining their profession, including details about the responsibilities of their roles. Among them were a marketing specialist, a customer success manager, someone working in investment and more. One person worked in social work, another in product/content management and yet another specialized in working with neuro patients.

Many of them also opened the floor for questions about their careers. One friend humorously wrote, "I sell air conditioning for a living, lol," in his presentation. There were also those who juggled multiple roles. However, Casandra admitted, "No one learned anything." Despite that, she still gave the career night a "10/10" rating. She also shared the event invite, which read: "Career Night - Come and learn what your friends do for a living." The invite asked attendees to prepare a 3-5 minute presentation about their job roles and duties, followed by a Q&A session. It also encouraged creativity, stating, "Extra points if you come dressed as you would for work. Creativity is welcomed and encouraged."

At the end of the session, attendees would have the chance to network, so they were encouraged to bring their business cards. The caption read, "I still don't really understand." The video received over 4.7 million views and more than 468k likes. People took to the comments section of the video to express their thoughts on the whole concept. @c.velards wrote, "This but invite all your younger cousins, siblings, nieces and nephews who are in high school or younger so they know what other jobs exist out there and how much money they could be making. Perhaps they can give a range for what people in their jobs could be making in year one then in 5-10 years. There are great online resources that have those estimates."

@the.priscilla.in.me commented, "This has to be one of the interesting things about adulthood because I don’t know what my friends are doing I just know we’re not starving." @mariasyque remarked, "I’m a Salesforce business analyst and work for a consulting company. The majority of our clients are banks and credit unions. Trying to explain what I do to my Mexican family is a nightmare. They think I own a bank." @laurenp531 shared, "My friend once told me that I’m like Chandler Bing. She knows I have a job but doesn’t fully know what I do."
