The author has been happily married to her husband for the past six years and has two kids. They are open to having friendships with people of the opposite gender as long as they maintain healthy boundaries, open communication, and interpersonal trust. In 2020, she met a 29-year-old man named Stephen, who soon started working with her husband in the same company. Around 2022, when Stephen got married, they had a platonic friendship and no feelings for each other. Since it was tough making friends as a married couple, the author was happy to have found two sweet friends.
Little did she know that Stephen’s wife was harboring an insecure attachment to him. It didn’t come to light until the author decided to host a surprise birthday party for her husband. After losing a friend, he was going through a rough patch, and she wanted to get things off his mind. While sending out invitations to family and friends, she also texted Stephen to attend the party with his wife.
