Most people share their crucial life updates on social media to keep their network updated on what is happening in their lives. People specifically like to update their LinkedIn audience about what they are doing next in a bid to keep their professional network or to attract potential collaborators, mentors and so on. But a former CEO has made the most unexpected update on his LinkedIn profile and it has taken the internet by storm. The former CEO of FTX Digital and founder of Lenox Eats made an unusually happy post about his new role.

In the post, the CEO wrote, "I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Inmate at FCI Cumberland!" He also added the detail about serving a prison sentence to his profile and added the month of his sentence as October. According to the United States Attorney's Office, Southern District of New York, Salame has been sentenced to 90 months in prison. The former CEO pleaded guilty to being involved in a conspiracy to make unlawful political contributions to defraud the Federal Election Commission. He also admitted to operating an unlicensed money-transmitting business. His sentence was imposed by District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan.

"Ryan Salame agreed to advance the interests of FTX, Alameda Research, and his co-conspirators through an unlawful political influence campaign and through unlicensed money transmitting business, which helped FTX grow faster and larger by operating outside of the law. Salame’s involvement in two serious federal crimes undermined public trust in American elections and the integrity of the financial system. Today’s sentence underscores the substantial consequences for such offenses," US Attorney Damien Williams pointed out. He was also sentenced to three years of supervised release and ordered to pay $6 million in forfeiture and $5 million in restitution, as per the source. Salame's LinkedIn update about his sentence received a lot of traction, prompting him to continue his humorous approach to the situation on his X account, where he goes by @rsalame7926.

"Today I learned people still use LinkedIn," the former CEO wrote. The man even updated his X profile photo in his prison attire. In another update, he wrote, "It's shocking how freeing it is knowing incarceration is inevitably on the horizon." In yet another post, he wrote, "Man, I haven't had to make friends at camp in like 20 years. Hopefully, sick hacky sacking skills are still in." The initial LinkedIn post received more than 22.5k reactions. People took to the comments section to express their opinions on it.

Wendy Rentschler wrote, "That time, a post made it all worth it to be on LinkedIn. It is GIVING late-stage capitalism meets existential crisis of consciousness with a splash of prison time. PEAK NETWORKING! No notes." Meena Sangar commented, "This has got to be the most interesting job announcement update I have ever seen. I had to read the job title at least three times. The role does come with certain benefits. There’s a canteen facility and a tuck shop. They do have a focus on wellness- they have a yard and if you’re lucky there will even be a gym. They also have a TV room and they have excellent continuous development learning opportunities. However, be aware of the learning pathways on offer." Grigory Nikitin joked, "Well deserved. FCI Cumberland is so lucky to have you!"
