The tree wasn't in any of his childhood photographs or on Google Maps, he said

The Florida sun usually brings heat, but for one homeowner, @sorrytoyourfather, it has brought a clearer view of a slow-motion nightmare. It started when one morning, the man saw a peculiar-looking tree right in front of his house. Of course, this wasn't a huge problem at first. While he did say that the tree wasn't in any of his childhood photographs or on Google Maps, it was all good until he had a realization that the tree was moving closer to his home. In an ongoing saga that began on April 20, TikTokers have been gathering in the millions to watch this bizarre event unfold.

In the first clip that he posted online, the man claimed that when he measured the distance from his fence to the tree the day prior, it was 377 feet; however, that changed to just 345 feet the following day, raising concerns. The people somehow got invested in this as the video racked up over 32 million views and 4 million likes. Following this, he decided to document this tree in more detail.
He pointed out that not only is the tree seemingly moving closer to him every day, but also not one thing about it — from the bark to the branches — seems real. Even birds avoid sitting on that tree. On Day 3, the man noticed that not only was this 'fake tree' moving close to his house but also to the tree right next to it. He measured the distance between them, which came to about 3.7 feet.
So, the next day, he was back at it again, only for him to tell the millions following the tale, "Guys, I do have to tell you that I did receive a phone call saying, 'I need to stop filming this tree.'" But that didn't stop him from measuring it, and as it turns out, the tree now stood closer than ever before, just 337 feet away. So, from 377 to 345 to 337...
He decided to tie the two trees with a string. Were he to find the yarn drooping the next morning, there would be tangible proof! And on April 24, there was. Turns out, the string was droopy in the morning.
@sorrytoyourfather It shouldn’t be doing this… #simulation #conspiracy #movingtreesaga ♬ original sound - Iscaredads
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has suggested that there are a few species in the Eastern U.S. that are moving to the North at an unexpected rate. "For some plants and trees, moving north is real and their only chance for survival,” said Chris Woodall, a research forester for Northern Research Station and the study’s author. “Our study confirms a link between global warming and forest migration. It’s no longer conjecture."
In fact, some tree species may be able to migrate from their home range more than 60 miles in a century. This could mean the yellow birch from the eastern U.S. might cross into Canada by the early 2100s. Meanwhile, the people, despite being skeptical at first, have started to believe that the Florida man might actually be on to something. So much so that they've rallied into the comment sections to showcase their support and suggest ideas as well.

"I believe you. Have you heard of walking trees? Not to scare you, but you should look into that," @Adrienne6579 suggested. Meanwhile, @Cocobandits wanted more evidence from the homeowner, as he commented, "'It's not in my childhood photos' to prove it. I wanna see a picture from like 20 years ago."
