No one is a stranger to the annoying and clingy bedbugs who refuse to leave once they get a hold of you or your belongings. With the bedbug crisis in France, many are looking for alternatives to be safe and infested-free. A flight attendant named Cari Curri - who goes on TikTok by @cici.inthesky - shared a video to identify and avoid bedbugs wherever you are. She shared two prime ways to spot and avoid having the tiny creatures all over you. “It is more important now than ever to be checking your hotel rooms for bedbugs and your Airbnbs,” said Curri.

Curri shared that as a flight attendant, she doesn’t get to choose rooms and though they get good rooms and hotels, bedbugs can be practically anywhere. “I’ve had bed bugs in my Airbnb,” Curri revealed. She then went on to share her first tactic to identify whether there were any bedbugs in the room. She shared a glimpse of her room and said, “You can see that there’s carpet here and there’s hard floor here. My bags never go past the hard floor onto the carpet and definitely never go on the bed.” Curri left her bags on the floor in the video and then said, “Here’s what I do and I check every single spot.”

The flight attendant then began to pull out the sheets and covers and even lifted the mattress to check for bugs. The text in her video read, “Check for rust or red spots, tiny dark spots and bugs.” She also recommended checking for bedbugs when the lights are off with the help of a phone’s flashlight to get a better look. “Check all the crevices,” Curri said as she looked everywhere - around, underneath and even in the corners of the bed. She further mentioned that it is more of the fabric to worry about and not the hard surfaces. In her video, she shared that her room had a fabric chair and said, “I just don’t go near it.”

The flight attendant also suggested that one should check the luggage rack and any other equipment in the room with fabric. With this, she moved on to her next piece of advice in case one finds bed bugs or wants to avoid them. Curri mentioned taking another room if you find any traces of bedbugs. “Those guys are sneaky like lice,” she commented. However, one can’t always fight the tiny army that comes into your belongings while traveling. Luckily, Curri had an easy hack for this. “If you do get bedbugs in your bag, bed bugs do not like tea tree oils, they also do not like peppermint oils.”

Also, she added lavender to the list and said that a mixture of these to spray on your bag can comfortably do the trick. “It could be acting as a repellent.” She also suggested lemongrass oil. People in the comment section sure appreciated the quick, hassle-free alternative to get rid of the freaky fellows. Travel with your belongings like a pro with these simple tricks in mind! @cookfortheworld2 said, “Check in electric sockets too.” @bkbetty33 said, “They never invade my place because I spray everything down with tea tree oil.”
