She took to Twitter to share the beautiful story.
Air travel often feels like something you just get through, not something you remember. Most flights blur together with the same seats, the same announcements, and the same wait for service. However, within these mundane experiences, some encounters make the flight experience unforgettable. A writer and podcast host, Rachel Leishman–who goes by @RachelLeishman on X (formerly Twitter)–had one such encounter with a flight attendant, who heard her passing comment. Leishman shared the story on the platform.
"Flight attendant heard me go, 'Oh f*** yeah, I love those cookies' when I went to the bathroom, but the flight was too bumpy for the service. During landing, she walked up and said, 'You liked the cookies, right?' and handed me this. I hope Melissa at American Airlines has a nice night," Leishman wrote in her post. She shared pictures of herself with a full pack of Biscoff cookies along with the note from the flight attendant that read, "I hope you enjoy these cookies. Sorry, we didn't get to do service. Melissa." The post reached nearly 3 million people and prompted hundreds of responses appreciating Melissa's thoughtful gesture.
@dez_blanchfield wrote, "People will, for the most part, be awesome if we just give them the opportunity." @itsreeljames said, "What?! You were definitely blessed on that flight. I hope American Airlines gives Melissa a raise." @web3_analyst chimed in, "Looks like someone got so many cookies on their flight today. Congrats." @Stegosauras15, "Yahtzee!! That’s a great way to end your flight. Enjoy!" @AmericanAir responded directly, "We love those cookies too and are glad Melissa hooked you up. Enjoy, and we'll share your kind words with our #AATeam!"
Others shared how much they also valued the same cookies or had similar memories. @Mithra_Is_Fine shared, "When I was an airline pilot for a shitty regional airline back in 2007, these were gold. They were reserved for pacifying unruly passengers when we had delays and stuff, and it was a hanging offense to dip into the strategic Biscoff reserve without good reason." @andyland3412 added, "The same thing happened to me on Delta almost exactly three years ago, and I still think about it to this day." @katrinaexotic1 said, "I had to start bringing my own, lol. They were only giving out one on my flight." Melissa’s small but thoughtful act of kindness reminds us what flight attendants do behind the scenes. In another story, another flight attendant went even further to save a couple’s honeymoon that nearly fell apart.

Newlyweds Lawryn and Joe Fellwock were on a Delta flight from Detroit to Puerto Rico when Lawryn noticed her passport was missing. With no time to turn back and a cruise waiting in San Juan, the couple felt out of options until they asked their flight attendant, Dusty Dills, if anything could be done. Dills came up with a plan. He told Joe, "I’m flying back to Detroit right after this flight. If you can somehow get the passport to DTW around 9:00 or whatever it is I land, I can then take it with me the next day to Atlanta." From there, the passport was passed to another crew member, flown to San Juan, and dropped off at the Delta check-in desk, arriving just 90 minutes before the cruise departed. "I consider that the greatest wedding gift we could have asked for. I felt like probably the luckiest bride on Earth," Lawryn said.
