Passengers who fly Delta, American Airlines, and Southwest Airlines are requested to wear "proper clothing" and avoid wearing shorts while on the flight, revealed The Sun US. Charity Moore (@charityofsunshine), a flight attendant with 12 years of experience, shared a video on TikTok on March 1, talking about what passengers should actually be doing while on a plane. One of the most shocking pieces of advice was to wear clothes that fully cover one's body. The reason why had everyone's skin crawling. The video received 2.3 million views, 169,000 likes, and 3,040 comments.

@charityofsunshine These are a few things you should be doing on an airplane when you travel that you probably (and by probably I mean absolutely) should be doing from your flight attendant. I do ALL of these things when I travel in my own time. Shoes, pants, wiping then seatbelt and bringing my own food. All a MUST. Enjoy the travelers and safe flaying. Maybe I’ll see ya up there. #travelhacksandtips #traveltip #flightattendant ♬ Idyllic jazz bossa nova with piano and guitar(1298871) - TAKANORI ONDA

Bodily fluids everywhere

According to Moore, plane seats and seatbelts get extremely dirty. "I am letting you know from a flight attendant, the amount of things I have seen on the seat. Wear pants. Shorts, skirts, dresses? Absolutely not, wear full pants." It does not matter how much you disinfect the seats, Moore said. Passengers should not allow their skin to touch the seats. There is sweat, vomit, and all sorts of bodily fluids everywhere. She's seen Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) patients "with blood on their garments, and it leaks through."

Safe and sanitary

Moore is not the only flight attendant who lives by this rule. Tommy Cimato (@tommycimato), another flight attendant, shared five things passengers should not do on an airplane, and one of them was avoiding wearing shorts. "You never know how clean it's going to be, so if you have pants, you're going to have less germs." Another former Emirates Airlines employee, Drake, explained in a TikTok video that shorts are not the safest apparel in case of a landing emergency.

If passengers have to get off the plane, wearing shorts could rip their skin right off due to friction. He explained, "This stuff [on the slide] is designed to get you down as fast as possible, and it burns. To the point where, if you’re sliding down, you are supposed to keep your hands on top of your thighs because if you try to use your hands on the slide, your hands will get burned and your skin could get burned off."

Planes are never 100% clean

A Honeywell survey in 2020 revealed that one of the main criteria people consider (57%) while choosing a travel brand is its cleanliness and hygiene. Travel & Leisure asked flight attendants what the dirtiest parts of an airplane were. They revealed that the instruction cards in the seat pockets are among the dirtiest spots on the plane. A few other items include overhead bins, tray tables, seatback screens, seat covers, seat belts, seat belt buckles, bathroom handles, bathroom surfaces, and tap water.

Instead of listening to Moore's advice, people were worried about other things. @jowlsandjava commented, "You know what’d be great? If the airlines would clean the planes." @remy.james added to Moore's advice, "Full pants, but don’t let it drag on the floor – you don’t want them touching the bathroom floors."
