'This might be the most true to the original film reenactment I've seen.'

The Twilight saga may have ended a decade ago, but its impact has never left diehard fans. While the final film closed the chapter on Bella and Edward, fans have always hoped for a reboot. So, what if we tell you that there indeed is a reboot of the popular franchise, but with a twist? A team of firefighters from Pender Island Fire Rescue (@penderfire) in British Columbia, Canada, recently released a series of videos of their hilarious spoof of the iconic scenes from Twilight on November 27, and it is a treat to watch.

In a creative way to spread safety measures using social media, the firefighters of Pender Island Fire Rescue decided to hop on the spoof trend by recreating hilarious scenes from the Twilight saga. In a series of videos, the firefighters can be seen recreating the running scenes of the vampires from the iconic movie franchise, as they use props and dramatic lighting while in their uniforms. One of the videos titled "Twilight Dawn of the Smoke Detector" features a firefighter named @todd.bulled, who throws a smoke detector, while other firefighters are seen dramatically running in slow motion, while the iconic "Supermassive Black Hole" by Muse plays in the background. By creating these videos, the firefighters intend to spread awareness of using smoke detectors in homes.
A 2021 study published in the Journal of Business Studies found that humorous content has a strong impact on social media campaigns and can play an important role in spreading awareness. The study used a quantitative approach by conducting an online survey among Netflix users and analyzing the data using structural equation modeling to examine relationships among measurement constructs. The findings showed that creative meme videos and content help engage larger audiences, thereby spreading awareness of important issues. By creating humorous and creative spoof videos of the Twilight saga, the firefighters not only entertained online users but also effectively spread awareness of safety measures.
In 2024, the Zebra ran a survey which showed "16% of Americans have never tested their smoke detector and 20% admit to disconnecting it completely." It also added how 1 in 10 Americans didn't even own or install a smoke detector. These statistics bring into focus the sheer necessity of what this team of firefighters have done.

Soon after the videos went viral, many users shared their thoughts on them. @tinamadsen2.0 wrote, "You guys inspired/reminded me to change out all my smoke/carbon monoxide detectors. Soooo… the messaging works." @gabriella.guava commented, "This might be the most true to the original film reenactment I've seen." @julieh1612 wrote, "Is there a count on how many times you guys yelled out 'parkour' when you did this?"
