A fierce little girl hilariously ranted about boys calling her cute, revealing her desire to break free from traditional labels.
Who doesn’t want to be called "cute"? Well, this little girl of Malaysian descent responded with the most hilarious reply when she was complimented with the same. An Instagram video by her mom, Melissa Tan (@misspopsasa), reflected how quickly time flies as the young girl, Eva Mei, expressed her desire not to be confined to a stereotypical representation. Even though the kid probably isn’t fully aware of it—though she might be—she becomes defiant when someone emphasizes her softer side.
In the widely circulating footage, Eva can be seen enjoying her meal when suddenly her mom, Melissa, comes up with a comment. “Eva's telling me about boys calling her ‘cute,’” her mother shared. The remark irks the little girl, who appears upset when reminded of it. “And I don’t like to be cute,” the little girl yelled.
Following this, Eva’s mom fails to control her laughter. This prompts the youngster to offer an explanation: “I am cute, but I don't want people to call me cute.” This response was both shocking and surprising for Melissa, who then asked her daughter why she felt this way. Meanwhile, Eva’s dad, Melissa’s husband, can be seen passing through the frame.
In fact, the dad, seemingly lost in his phone, looks up upon hearing Eva’s response. “Why? What did they say?” the tween’s mom, anticipating a response. The little girl, unafraid of her sassy replies, mimics how boys her age give compliments. "You are so cute," Eva retorts, imitating her friends. "And they were laughing," she complained.
Melissa, playing devil's advocate, didn’t stop her cross-questioning. In the latter half of the 22-second reel, Eva’s mom continues the innocent conversation: "Then, what did you say to them?" Eva wittily replies, "I said I’m fierce." The video has inspired online viewers to come up with their own interpretations of the childish banter and has garnered around 201,470 likes since it was posted earlier in September this year
Among the reactions, @bhavyapanditmusic observed, “Young girls are no longer seeking validation from male attention. The world is evolving.” Adding to it, @danielleb2000 hailed, “Eva is truly my spirit animal; she expresses the thoughts of my inner child for me every day.” “The timing of her eye roll is absolute perfection; she's already a master storyteller,” @tediously_brief noted. “Exactly, cute feels like an insult sometimes,” @sunset.chaser_1 agreed. Others heaped praises on Eva for being a girl with the "right attitude."

In another video, the little girl confidently boasted about her intelligence without any hesitation. One fine day, Eva walked into her mom's room and asked her about Anwar Ibrahim. Melissa was initially taken aback by the child's intriguing question. As Eva shared more about the Prime Minister of Malaysia, her mom chose to play along. When Melissa asked, "Who taught you that?" Eva responded with a sharp reply: "Nobody."
