'Ok, that's the coolest fricking thing I have ever seen,' the bride said in total disbelief.
Today, we live in a world where instant messages have become the only way of communication. People are so hyperconnected with one another through texts, emails, and social media that writing a letter for someone feels like time travel — slow, personal, and full of emotions. Gone are the days when we had to wait for weeks, or sometimes months, to receive a reply to our letters; yet, there was something incredibly special in that state of waiting — one which seems to be missing in the era of real-time communication. Nelson & Rainee Films' (@nelsonandraineefilms) shared a heartwarming video on TikTok capturing a woman's heartfelt reaction to her partner revealing what he’d done with all her handwritten letters.
On their wedding day, the groom surprised his bride when he opened his coat, revealing all the handwritten letters his now-wife had written to him, printed on the inside of his blazer. "I put all the notes that you wrote to me," the man said as his beautiful bride stood there in complete awe. "What the hell! How did you do this? OMG, that is so cool!" she exclaimed, seemingly moved by her partner's meaningful gesture. The sweet man went on to tell her how his blazer had every single letter she had ever written to him. To this, the bride said, "Ok, that's the coolest fricking thing I have ever seen."
In a time when letter writing had become a fading tradition, this kind man's wholesome gesture serves as a profound reminder of the emotional depth that handwritten letters carry. Needless to say, people today, especially the young adults and even the school-going children, who are too dependent on modern ways of communication, might never understand the pleasures of writing letters. Notably, as per a report by The Guardian, one in five children in the United Kingdom has never received a handwritten letter. "If children do not write or receive letters, they miss out on key developmental benefits. Handwritten letters are much more personal than electronic communication," Sue Palmer, child education expert, shared with the outlet.
The precious wedding video received an outpouring of love on social media, with people appreciating the man's meaningful gesture. For example, a user who goes by @persianvalorandcourage on TikTok commented, "This is crazy cool, lol. The coat is going to be around for hundreds of years, and everyone in the future will know about the love they had for each other."
On the other hand, @tattooednsassy said, "That is the most romantic thing EVER! I would have cried my makeup off." @lifewithboots revealed, "Love this! My husband and I were long-distance for the first 3 years. He’s kept every single post-it note I would write him before I left. We’ve been together 9 years." @marmaraki75, who was clearly overwhelmed with emotions, wrote, "He is a keeper! God bless you both, and may the Lord grant you many years together… And remember, may you have no downtime, but if you do, look at that jacket & remember how much he loves you!"
