A woman was hit like a ton of bricks when she caught her fiancé having an affair just twelve weeks before their wedding. He made it look like he was helping a lesbian colleague navigate the workplace until one TikTok video revealed what was actually going on. In a July 30, 2026 episode of the It’s a Girl Thing (@girlthingpod) podcast, hosts Ebony Day and Lucie Houchin read out the woman’s description of the incident, calling her fiancé’s act “disgusting.” The video has garnered over 104,000 views and over 1400 likes since.

TikTok unleashes the truth

The fiancé was 29, and his co-worker was just 19 when it started. He told his fiancé that he was really good friends with her and that he was helping her navigate the male-oriented workplace as a lesbian. But what she thought was help turned out to be a romantic affair between him and his apprentice. Fast forward to four months, when they were just 12 weeks away from the wedding, she found a TikTok video the co-worker had sent her fiancé with the message, “Missing you, baby.”

"I checked the messages and found out they were having a 4-month affair," the host reiterated the confession from the woman. That’s when the woman realized why her fiancé was "a bit shady about inviting her and others from work to the wedding."

Blessing in disguise 

A glimpse into the text messages revealed that the two had been having an affair for the past four months, and her fiancé was planning to skip the wedding. Worse still, what she thought were his night shifts were actually date nights he spent in his co-worker’s house. The woman obviously dumped him. Two and a half years later, the incident is now a distant memory that taught her a lesson. Now, she is happily married and living in another house with a wonderful man.

Romance lurking around the corner

The workplace is the most common place for affair partners. According to research by Forbes Advisor, over 60% of romantic affairs start in the workplace, and 40% of workplace romances involve cheating on an existing partner. “Because it's easy. You share the same goals, the same stress, and in some cases more time together than with anyone else. Over time, your relationship goes from being strictly professional to becoming more personal,” explained Affair Recovery & Infidelity Specialist Dr. Kathy Nickerson. In one of her surveys she conducted on 2,115 straying partners and 3,668 betrayed partners, nearly 42% of men admitted having an affair with a coworker.

Stay single, ladies!

Viewers, mostly women, were infuriated at the state of men in the current world. Many urged women to stay single until they find the right one. @athleteology commented, “The length of time people go to instead of just simply breaking up always makes me sigh very loudly. And I am a couples therapist.” @venusianbrightness remarked, “In Brazil, we often say something was a ‘livramento’ when something that seemed bad at first turns out to have saved you from something much worse. It’s like a blessing in disguise.”
