He was around 14 years old when his father walked out of his life. Years later, when he returned, the boy had a few choice words to say

If blood were indeed thicker than water, people wouldn’t love stories like The Lion King, Mowgli, Harry Potter, and Game of Thrones. Yet when it comes to real-world relationships, some humans still adhere to the idea of loving others based on whether or not they have inherited strands of their DNA. One father, in particular, walked out on his son after a compromised DNA test showed that he wasn't the father, leaving an unspoken void that kept on traumatizing the boy for years. 4 years later, the correct results emerged, and he immediately wanted back in.
In a post on Reddit, the boy, going by the moniker u/turnsoutinsane, asked fellow Reddit users to share perspectives on his infuriating tussle. “Dad thought I wasn't his kid, left, turns out I am his kid, so he wants to be pals again, and I want him gone,” he summarized.
Family left me (18M) when they thought I wasn't my dad's son but now they want to get back in touch

At the time of writing the post in 2018, the boy was 18 years old, and the incident he shared happened four years ago, implying 2014. It began with his dad speculating on the timing of his mom’s affairs. She had partaken in affairs all through their marriage, which he knew and forgave her for, until he realized that one of his sons could have a different father.
DNA tests were conducted. Turned out, the siblings were his children, but this young boy was not. “Cool, right. So dad leaves mom, divorces her, moves out, and takes both my siblings with him. Not me tho,” the boy wrote. He stayed behind with his mom; both were outcast by the rest of the family. Mom felt alone most of the time, and the older brother was mean to him whenever they crossed paths. “We were really tight before, and the s**t he did to me, I swear, had I been bigger at the time, I would have punched him hard, more than once.”

A nagging feeling made them re-take the DNA test, and call it serendipity or a miracle, it turned out that the previous results had gotten messed up. The boy was indeed his dad's son. It was like fate spun the entire drama to teach the boy some life lessons and power him up for independence. Still, they started looking for a lawyer to settle the relationships for once and for ever. That's when the bombshell confession arrived: His dad wanted him back.
“Brother is calling and wanting to meet up and talk shit. I don't f*****g want to. I want these people out of my life.” To make the situation even more depressing for him, his mom forgave his dad and was already planning a date with him.

Researchers from Boston Children’s Hospital reported that abandonment can have a damaging effect on a child's brain, sending its intrinsic architecture haywire. They analyzed the brain activity of 136 children and concluded that abandoned children live their lives craving for a missing piece they never get. “That’s what’s missing in these (institutionalized) kids because they’re left alone. They don’t know how to have relationships with anybody.”
A few days into the post, the boy shared, “I don't live with her anymore. Been at my grandfather's for a little while now, so living arrangements are cool.” Grandpa, he said, hates his dad, which makes things easier and more comfortable for him. “He has this saying that goes, 'When a ship is going through a storm, man tries to keep everyone safe and steer it clear; rats just wanna run to someplace dry.'”

Thousands of people zipped through the comments section, leaving supportive remarks for the boy. u/therespectablejc reassured him that he is under no obligation to anyone. If it’s his choice that he wants to keep them as a distant part of his life, he can. u/HeelSteamboat empathized, “I'm sorry that this is happening to you. It seems like you're being betrayed at all angles (especially with your mom going on the date with your dad). You against the world, man. Own it. Live it. Become a stronger man.”
