Doing the laundry is the least favorite thing of many people. Sometimes we wish our clothes to get cleaned up magically so we don't have to deal with the piling laundry. We don't really have a choice except to wash the sweaty and smelly clothes after we wear them. Or maybe we do have a choice according to fashion stylist Christie Moeller, who goes by @christiemoeller on TikTok. The stylist has shared a simple yet effective trick to avoid repulsive odor in clothes so that you can wear them without washing them every time.

Moeller's classic tip is all about mixing some water with vodka in a spray bottle to keep clothes fresh in between wears. In her viral video titled: "How to keep clothes smelling fresh without washing them," she demonstrates how she does it as an expert and advises others to do the same. She starts her video by explaining that it is not necessary to wash your garments after each wear because that ends up ruining the quality of the clothing material sooner than expected.

"Did you know your clothes will actually last longer if you don’t wash them after every wear? And you can wear dry-clean-only clothes three or four times before they need to go to the cleaners," she says in her video. "On set, sometimes actors have to wear the same clothes multiple days in a row, and there’s no time to clean them in between. Stylists have a trick to keep those clothes fresh, and all you need is some vodka and water."

Moeller proceeds to pull up a sequined blazer and then a spray bottle and some vodka to show her viewers how it's done. "In a spray bottle, add one part water to one part vodka. Then, give the inside of the clothing a little spritz," she continues explaining while mixing the concoction up. Then she grabs the golden blazer which is still on the hanger and sprays the insides of it. "The vodka is going to kill any of that odor-causing bacteria," she adds. "And no, you’re not gonna smell like booze. Just a clean, fresh garment."

TikTok viewers were amazed at how a simple trick like this can remove the odor from clothes without having to wash them. So far the viral video has amassed over 6 lakh views and the comment section has been full of people sharing their own experiences after trying and testing this hack. @gaypaniccosplay suggested: "Amazon sells antibacterial fabric spray by Detol that smells amazing and will actually kill the bacteria that make your clothes smell. Way cheaper too."

If someone is not capable of pouring in a lot of money to buy a single bottle of vodka just to spray it on their clothes, then this person's alternative suggestion is actually useful. @insectcore wrote: "I do this in the costume department but I use 70% isopropyl alcohol." @frizzletitz commented: "Yes been doing this for years, add a few drops of lavender or peppermint oil and you can use it as a room or loo deodorant."

@nonhleberyl added: "I feel validated because unless I was sweating or doing some really heavy activity, I don’t wash my clothes after each wear. I only wash basics." While talking to Daily Dot about her hack, Moeller mentioned something extra. "The only thing I would add is that if it’s a particularly strong smell you are trying to get rid of you can use the vodka straight without diluting it," she told the outlet via Instagram direct message. Well, it seems this hack can be useful to prevent our laundry from getting piled up over the weekend.
