A woman revisits some of the fondest memories from her childhood that were formed each time she visited her grandmother's home which now looks barren.
Grandparents hold a special place in our lives and with them, we create some of the core memories that can not be easily forgotten. Carli Jolene, a photographer and wellness coachβwho goes by @carli.robison on Instagramβvisited her grandmother's home with other family members to clear out the space after she passed away. As she looked around, she realized that every nook and corner of the house held memories that were luckily photographed by her family and they could look back at it anytime they wanted.
Jolene shared a brief video where she visited some of the rooms and areas of her grandmother's property and held up photographs taken on those sites, which seemed to bring back all the memories from the past. In one picture, Jolene's grandma is holding a little kid and in another, she is helping a little girl with some study materials. There is a picture of her grandma in the kitchen while doing the dishes and near the fireplace where she posed with her grandkids.
Other photographs show her grandma chilling on the porch or striking a cool pose and sitting in a wheelchair surrounded by her big family. "Didn't realize this part would be as hard as it is," the caption of the video read. "I already miss walking in that door, smelling cookies in the oven, seeing her smiling face and outstretched arms coming toward me every time." Her grandma would often bring something for them from Walmart and would always ask them about what they wanted for lunch every time they visited her house as kids.
"On a warm, sunny afternoon on the sun porch, we could talk about life- the good, the bad and the ugly. My mom and her siblings found a ton of written prayers when they cleaned out her house. The love she had for her family ran so deep. I will strive to be like the example she set for us for my entire life. Faith and love, family, hard work and serving others well were things she exemplified and I promise I won't forget any of it for the rest of my days,"
Previously, Jolene had posted a picture with her grandma in May 2024, leaving a heartfelt caption and mourning her departure. "My heart is shattered to pieces. I'll miss you every single day for the rest of my life on this side of Heaven, Grandma," the caption read. The comment section of the main video was full of people who reminisced about their childhood and the times they spent with their grandparents. Whereas, others offered their condolences to Jolene.

@d.a.b.240 pointed out, "You can tell that house gave everyone a warm feeling when they drove up." @huckleberky shared, "My grandparent's house was home to the entire family. My grandfather was born in the living room. The house has been in our family for over 140 years. Once my grandfather passed, my grandmother just couldn't keep up with the place by herself. They live in a rural area and the rest of the family have already built lives elsewhere. I couldn't bear to see someone else living there, so my dream was to take over the property. I'm so thankful that we get to carry on our family traditions in the one place we all share." @aj_ingoglia_films mentioned, "Growing up is just constant heartbreak, isn't it? I want a refund for my childhood, one more time."
