Vacations are expensive affairs, especially when your friends and family tag along. It takes a lot to find an affordable place to stay and eat. Mom of five kids and content creator, Gemma Loveden (who goes by @gemmaloveden on TikTok) probably had the same expectations when she went to Spain with her family on a vacation. When her family decided to grab a meal, they were sure to receive a big and hefty bill. However, their jaws dropped upon seeing the bill that was handed to them by the end of their feast. She posted a video regarding the incident on TikTok with the text overlay, "I bet the price we paid will really shock you, we couldn't believe it!"

Loveden is mostly known for creating food and cooking content on social media. She also works behind a popular Facebook group called Foodie Family Meals. Loveden started her TikTok video by cheerfully asking one of her young sons, "We are going to get some pizza?" Then she panned the camera around the table where her husband and other kids were eagerly waiting for the food. "So I went for the lemon and garlic chicken," Loveden said in the video, pointing the camera at her plate. "And got some extra chips."

"You went for the steak, didn't you, love?" Loveden said pointing the camera at her husband's steak meal. She then panned the camera towards her kids who were enjoying the slices of pizza they shared. She ended the video by showing her audience their bill. Their overall order consisted of a Margherita and a Thomas pizza, lemon chicken, a steak meal, a bottle of Coca Cola and two bottles of water. The bill totaled 54.84 euros, which is 60.52 in American dollars. Many people in the comment section were shocked to see the price of the whole meal being way cheaper than they expected and others left compliments for Loveden's children's being extremely well-behaved.

@tinabowler4 complimented, "Not an iPad in sight, polite happy children, great parenting and beautiful family." @nickcerrillo commented, "According to Google. That's roughly $60 US. If that’s wrong. Blame Google. Not me. But the lemon chicken alone would be like 45$ here in the US. That’s a super deal." @melwesty pointed out, "Easy done really [they're] sharing pizza also waters!! Wish I could do this I won’t lie would save me a fortune." @stev6610 joked, "Did the fighting start when the desserts came? Fantastically well-behaved children, lovely to see, hope you had a great holiday." @xgbajag added, "Girl getting my three to sit down and behave is hell on Earth. How do you do it? All clean fed and happy, some people love to be miserable."

Loveden might have lucked out while dining out with her family and avoiding outrageous bills but not everybody turns out lucky enough. A woman named Marina Rudan, who goes by @marina.rudan on TikTok, shared in her video how a restaurant charged her to pay something called a kitchen service charge. "She told me that the owner decided that his kitchen staff should be paid more money and he automatically now has a kitchen service charge added to the bill," Rudan said, speaking about the sum she had to pay along with the regular tips. "So not only are we tipping them 18 to 20 percent, but there is an automatic service charge to the back of the house."
