Family hilariously takes turns predicting mom's reaction to the brightly lit living room

Mental well-being is the foundation for healthy living, which starts from our homes. Often, we see in families that our loved ones crave positive energy to uplift their spirits after a harrowing workday. And it is not always necessary to offer encouragement in the form of serious talking. Because sometimes, even the silliest moments can help them decompress and feel valued. Hoping the same, one such family decided to pull a prank on their mom by keeping the living room lit. Before the hardworking mother returned home after a long shift, her daughter Liv–who goes by @livileaisaacs on TikTok–captured other family members trying to predict her reaction to the same.

In the video, Liv’s family, including her dad and siblings, hilariously tried to mimic the content creator’s mom. Their aim was to “accurately” portray the mother’s reaction to a room full of lights upon returning home after a tiring day at work. “Turning every light in the house on and predicting what our mom will say when she gets home,” the text overlay on the video read. It starts with Liv’s brother knocking on the door before entering their bright home. The teenager does a rather subtle job of imitating their “low-light lover” mom’s usual antics. “Wow! It is bright here,” he says with a smile on his face, prompting the video creator to laugh. Following this, her younger sister enters and gives a made-up reaction, trying to portray how their mom might have taken things lightly even if she didn’t like them.

The best part in the 40-second clip is when Liv’s dad comes into the frame. More so, the husband, aware of his wife’s likes and dislikes, aptly portrays her probable disappointment at the lights glaring into the face. Thereafter, it’s the turn of what seems to be the content creator’s other sister, who appeared zealous, looking at the luminous space. “Wow! It is very bright in here,” she said, curiously posing a question about what was happening in their house.

Speaking of the elephant in the room—no wait—Liv’s mom just drops in during the ending sequence. To everyone’s surprise, with two pizza cartons in her hand, she shows no signs of excitement at all. The workaholic mother is amazed by the amount of light in her house after opening the beautifully decorated white door. “Wow! Nice. Why is it so bright in here?” she asked Liv and moved inside. Notably, it turned out that her reaction was a mix of all the previously done predictions—i.e., the brother’s subtlety, the sisters’ emphasis on “wow,” and the dad’s dumbfounded yet unfulfilling response.

The prank to “lighten up the mood” has resonated well on social media with nearly 13 million views and countless reactions since it was shared in July earlier this year. “She is not particularly fond of bright lights. I can respect that,” said @vanessaj100. “This made me realize that 'It’s like the Blackpool Illuminations in here' is a very English phrase,” @aimeestridee remarked. @amy.g.dala added, “I hope your mom ate all the pizzas by herself in a dimly lit room since you all got jokes.” Others lauded the video creator’s mom for being a good sport.
