Acing a job interview for some candidates is like a breeze, yet many struggle to land their ideal position. Employers scroll through hundreds of applications every day, making it exceptionally challenging to stand out. That is why a career coach named Em Rez, who goes by @emrezkalla on TikTok, has revealed some insights to aid the aspirants seeking their dream role.

“If you're struggling to figure out what to focus on in your interview,” remarked Em, adding that her two tips would help in impressing the hiring managers. The expert revealed that recruiters show little interest in knowing one’s professional qualifications during the interviews. Instead, the employers look for things/qualities that they are not going to be able to find on resumes, she added.

Coming straight to the point, Em emphasized the two most important characteristics that an individual must possess. “You should focus on your reliability and likability. Both will leave your hiring manager with a strong impression of who you are as a candidate and whether or not you should be hired,” the career coach elaborated. She went on to highlight that resumes serve the purpose of underlining one’s achievements, and not the process deployed to reach those outcomes.

“Resume talks about the outcomes and the things that you put out versus what are the things that you do internally or on the back end to establish or achieve those outcomes,” Em told her 199K-plus followers. Moreover, the expert explained it through an example referring to a mathematical assessment test containing merely answers, not any methods. “The teacher will ask: ‘How did you do this?’" the career coach added, sharing that the method used to get the answer is what is going to leave an impression and not just the answer itself.

“Your reliability is heavily founded in the way you communicate with others, as well as the way you communicate about the way you do things,” Em continued. The footage concludes with the interview expert speaking on the second factor, likability. This quality does play a role in getting someone hired, according to Em, because “the hiring manager is mainly going to remember the way the interviewee made them feel.” She further encouraged the aspirants to ask pertinent questions from the recruiter to get to their expectations for the role, including the qualities it demands.

“They (the recruiter) are going to think about, did I like talking to that person? Did I like the things that they said? Did it make sense to me? And do I feel confident in the fact that they would do a good job?” the content creator said, adding that a positive attitude, willingness to work with others as well as personal interests determine the hiring probability. Reacting to the tips, @angry.private wrote, “This is the first time I've ever understood how to differentiate between a resume and an interview. And that's sad since I've held several roles that were pretty hard to get!” Adding to it, @angiedi64 hailed, “(This) process and approach has always worked for me.”
