The first trip with your partner is something that everyone gets excited about and plans for days. However, it could prove to be a make-or-break situation, according to a report by Tui Blue. The study showed that the first vacation together could be challenging for a couple. About 60 percent of those who participated in the study shared that they saw their first trip with their partner as a 'a make or break' test, reported Independent

The biggest concerns of the new couples were things like snoring while sleeping, farting in front of their partner and sharing a bathroom. Twenty percent of people also reported that they are scared of what their partner would think when they found out they are messy. Moreover, though many people are fine with their partner having a good relationship with their family, FaceTiming their family every day on the trip could become an issue.

Paul Brunson, who is a relationship science expert, agreed that the first trip together is exciting but could also be nerve-wracking. “There can be anxiety about spending so much time alone together that it reveals potential annoying or unusual habits to one another... or even worse, the ‘ick’,” he said. Another interesting fact that came out of the report is that 20% of people between the 18-35 age group took a vacation just after two weeks of dating.

A report by Dating.com also spoke about how the first trips together could be significant for a couple. The study found that 47% of participants reported that they ended the relationship due to a quirk that emerged during the trips which included habits like placing dirty laundry on clean sheets and waking up oddly early for no particular reason. Another issue that led to breakups was punctuality. About 31% of couples ended their relationships because they were woken up too early every morning and 38% said they called it quits because their partner showed up late to dinner reservations.

Sharing a bathroom with someone for the first time can be stressful for anyone. People shared incidents like finding toothpaste smeared in the sink and forgetting to replace toilet paper which they found "disgusting to forgive" after they returned home. Trips or vacations are filled with uncertain situations like flight delays, food poisoning or lost baggage. However, many people reported that they were able to see their partner's true colors and didn't like it. Seeing their partner snap at flight attendants, tour guides and servers turned out to be a reason for break up for 31% of people. Many people also claimed that they found their partner to be incompatible during their first trip.

Brunson shared that choosing a holiday itinerary together can help with reducing conflict and enjoying the time together. He said, "To help new couples, I’ve worked with Tui Blue to identify typical ‘couples holiday personas’ in a bid to eliminate the stresses of first-time holidays.” He added that he has included activities like learning new skills or 'adventure spirits' which is to challenge themselves to do daring activities like snorkeling or kayaking together. He said that once you identify your holiday persona, you can access custom itineraries which will "ensure your first holiday as a couple is a success."
