There are a lot of joys to parenthood, but one of the first is being able to name your child. They are always looking to name their children something that sounds great and is up-to-date with the times. While some choose their fictional characters or names of favorite celebrities others might have a hard time settling on one name. That's where name specialists like Steph come into the picture. The expert—who goes by @nameswithsteph on TikTok—recently posted a video in which she spoke about “her top girl and boy names to watch for in 2024.”

She began her video by saying that she has a few names for this year that she has hopes for and believes to be her new "name crushes" for the year. She explains that, while most of her preferences are generally uncommon, this year is an exception. Last year, her most preferred name was Caspian, which was ranked only in some hundreds, which made sense as it was quite a different name. She then goes on to say how she wants to share some trends that she only recently spoke about on local TV.

On that note, she said that since this was the year of the "Barbie" movie, she believes in being able to see more of the names that these characters had. She mentioned, "I do think we're gonna see more Margots and Gretas next year and hopefully more Barbara's, Babs and Barbies." She also said how she would love kids to be named with these names, including Alan, which she says is her prediction for men. Along with that, she also mentions how a lot of people are recently very much into "two-syllable girl names like Willa and Clea."

While she tells us how she believes people will see more of these names, she starts to make her predictions for boy names. She said, "For boys, we've got country names on the rise." Talking about the two extremes there, she said that while some people want masculine boy names like Duke or Maverick, some prefer softer names like Silas, Soren and Atlast. Steph also believes that Spencer and Logan are the two most popular masculine names for girls. Riding on this same theme, she says that she thinks that the most common girl name for 2024 would be Lenny and for boys, it would be Sunny.

The comment section consisted of a lot of different views and opinions. While a lot of people shared their views on these names, others just shared what they named their kids and why. Someone with the username @iamshayna9 said, "My little girl is due 11th March - naming her Bonnie (after my mom)." Another viewer, @edannmorton, shared, "We named our baby Margi and I'm so bummed that it's getting more popular." One viewer, @des_tini_bebe, made a wonderful suggestion and suggested it to Steph. She said, "Can you come up with tree-inspired baby names for either gender? I have a Willow and Hazel and I'm totally in love with Maple maybe?"
