Bride got dumped a week before her dream Tuscany wedding, but she refused to cancel

Getting dumped right before a wedding is every bride's nightmare, but 36-year-old Katherine Jones from Liverpool, England, did not let a man stop her from celebrating. The three-day wedding preparation had been going on for 18 months, Good Morning Britain reported. But a week before the big day, Jones' ex said he couldn't go through with it. Instead of moping around, Jones took full advantage of her dream wedding in Tuscany, Italy. The video was shared on August 26, 2026, and it received more than 242,000 views, 2,600 likes, and 405 comments.
'I tossed and turned all night'
Katherine Jones' ex told her his plans to exit the relationship a week before the wedding. She admitted she was devastated and heartbroken by his decision, but the next day, she called her mother and sister and announced the party was still on. Her mother and sister spread the word, and 30 of her close friends and relatives showed up to celebrate in Tuscany. She told the hosts, "I tossed and turned all night, and just decided there and then. It carries on, and it has to. It's seven days before, everything's paid for. Everyone's booked their flights, like, there's no option." However, Jones' in-laws did not join her celebration, and understandably so. She said seeing them would upset her because they would be reminders of him. She did clarify that there was no bad blood between her and them.
There was 'more room' at the venue
Jones briefly shared what she did during the three days. Her mother and sister made speeches, appreciating the woman she had become. They hyped her up and made her feel good. She mingled with all her family members who attended, since there was "more room" at the venue. Jones admitted that she was still heartbroken, but being surrounded by people who loved her gave her the strength to laugh more than cry. Since her videos went viral, many Italian vineyard owners have invited Jones, and even the Mayor of Val d’Orcia asked her to return for another visit.
Emotional support for women
Breaking off an engagement is not an easy decision to make, which was why 7% of both men and women blame themselves for a failed relationship, as per a 2018 survey by MyGemma. The survey also found that 20% of engaged couples called off their wedding. On another note, Jones surrounded herself with her mom, sister, and family members during this difficult time. A 2025 Pew Research Center survey found that 54% of women would turn to their mothers for emotional support, compared to 42% of men. 54% would turn to a friend, compared to 38% of men. While 44% of women would turn to other family members, compared to 26% of men.
'He lost out big time, but thankfully, she didn't'
