Eva Longoria's son Santiago Enrique is very particular about people speaking Spanish correctly, especially his mom. During an appearance on the "Kelly Clarkson Show" on June 8, the actress revealed that her 4-year-old can be a harsh critic when she speaks Spanish, reports PEOPLE. She explained that her son's "first language is Spanish" and so he makes sure to correct her whenever she makes a mistake.

Longoria said that she did not grow up speaking Spanish. “We lived in Mexico City and I was just shooting in Spain. He’s super fluent and corrects me all the time and he does it with, like, attitude,” she shared.

The "Desperate Housewives" star revealed that her child exclaims "Oh my god, Mom!" every time she makes an error and that she usually responds to him with "You're 4, easy, easy!" The actress added that her son is not a fan of her language skills, saying: "He's so disappointed in my Spanish!"

Clarkson explained said that "it's way easier" to learn a language at a young age and mentioned that Santiago must be "very wise for his age." Longoria responded by laughing and jokingly pretending to flick her hair behind her ear. The proud mom said, "He's super smart... he's brilliant, if I do say so myself."

The actress has always kept her private life away from the public eye but in April this year, she shared a family picture of her husband Jose Pepe Baston on his 55th birthday. Sharing a family picture of their son hugging them both, Longoria wrote on Instagram at the time, "Happy birthday to the best dad, family man, and husband anyone could ask for!" She and her husband welcomed Santiago in June 2018. She is also a stepmother to Baston's three children from his first marriage.

In February, she posted another picture of herself with her son from behind the scenes of a project. In the picture, young Santiago is seen reaching out for his mother as she sits in a chair getting ready. It was captioned, "A bond like no other."

In October 2020, Longoria spoke about her parenting journey on an episode of Anna Faris's podcast, "Unqualified." She said that she is "never going to tell someone how to parent," reported PEOPLE

"I never want to be that person — to be on a podcast like, 'What I do is I put my son to bed at 7 because studies show that the brain... ' Like, 'Oh my God, good for you. You go do that,'" she said, adding that she does not think of herself as an expert on being a mom.

However, she said that she's thankful to have "a village" of support and "a lot of help" with Santiago in the form of a "huge family" who all take care of each other's children.

She also appreciated her husband for his partnership. "I have an amazing husband who supports me, I have amazing sisters and I have amazing girlfriends who have kids the same age," said Longoria. "So we all chip in and get it done."

The actress has also spoken about her morning routine with Santiago in an interview with SheKnows. She said that waking her son up and morning cuddles are the favorite part of her day. Longoria revealed that her son "eats everything."

"He’s a really good eater. I’m very proud of that. Since he was very young, exposing him to different foods was very important," she shared.

Like other moms, the actress also doesn't have everything figured out. “Getting Santi’s shoes on is probably the biggest struggle,” Longoria said. “To leave the games, to leave the house, and the family. And he’s got to get into the car. Getting him into the car. Shoes on and into the car."
