Not everyone has the basic necessities like a roof over their head, clean clothes, or fresh food. Many homeless people seek temporary shelter in public places such as parks, bus stops, or gas stations. Sadly, some people view them as an "eyesore." In a Reddit post, u/incrediblyonehundred shared how a woman called the cops on a homeless man she spotted in the park, but the situation didn’t go the way she expected. The user explained that they live near a park where a homeless man, affectionately called "Tim," has been staying for a while.

Tim doesn’t bother anyone and even pitches in by helping to clean the park occasionally. He usually sleeps on a bench with some blankets, and while he never asks for help, locals often bring him food or coffee. "One day, I was out walking my dog, and I saw this woman—classic Karen vibes—marching over to where Tim was sitting, minding his own business. You could just tell she was looking for a reason to cause trouble. She stops in front of Tim and starts berating him about how he shouldn't be in 'her' park, that he was ruining the view and how he needed to 'get a job' and 'stop being lazy,'" the post read.

The woman got louder and more rude, while Tim remained calm, explaining that he wasn’t causing any trouble and had just as much right to be in the park as anyone else. She threatened to call the cops to have him removed for trespassing A small crowd gathered and a few from the community intervened, but the woman refused to listen to any reasoning. When the cops arrived, the woman started putting on her "best victim performance," claiming that she felt threatened and unsafe with Tim around.

"Turns out, one of the officers knew Tim. The cop says, 'Oh, hey Tim! How's it going?' They talk for a minute, and it's clear this officer knows Tim isn't some dangerous guy, just a homeless man down on his luck who's never caused trouble. The cop then turns to the woman and says, 'Ma'am, this is a public park. Tim has every right to be here, just like you do.' She starts saying how it's unacceptable that people like him are allowed in places like this. She keeps pushing, asking if the officer can do something to remove him," the post mentioned.

The officers told the woman that if anyone was going to be removed for causing a disturbance, it would be her. In the end, karma was on Tim’s side. After the chaos dissolved, some people came to support Tim with food and necessities and the cops lingered a bit longer to ensure Tim was okay. Many people in the comments expressed their positive opinions on the incident, mentioning how the woman deserved what happened to her.

u/Alycion reminded others, "People need to be more kind. You never know when you will be in the same situation. I keep bottled water in my car for the homeless during the summer. Buy food for them when I can. My friend kept granola bars in his car. You can tell who's out there because they don't want to do what they need to improve their lives and who is on hard times by the reaction of food and water vs. cash." u/McPepperdoodle commented, "She inadvertently did a good thing by making people pay more attention to Tim. The task failed successfully!" u/OkElderberry4333 added, "Regardless of your circumstances, people are human beings who deserve respect and kindness. So many of us are only a paycheck or two away from being in this position. I'm so happy that you live in a community that understands this and has police who will uphold this right."
