The experience of watching sports gets elevated to the next level when people come together to enjoy it. The same was evident in this video uploaded by Matthew—who goes by @michigankid91 on TikTok—where he showed a stadium full of people belting out Taylor Swift's song "You Belong With Me" to celebrate the special moment they were witnessing. The match on display was between the Boston and Ottawa teams from the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL), per Scary Mommy. The excitement in their voices was palpable and echoed through the stadium. It was clear how much everyone was enjoying this experience.

Both the teams were facing each other in Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, home of the NHL's Detroit Red Wings. The reason they were playing at a neutral site was due to the organization's objective to take women's hockey to places that did not have a PWHL team. As none of the teams had the home support to pull the fans into the stadium, having a sizable audience on the day was a challenge. However, the authorities did not turn back from it and managed to bring 13,736 individuals to watch the teams play. It was a momentous occasion not only because the authorities succeeded in their challenge but also because the number of spectators broke the attendance record for women's professional hockey in the United States.

Everyone in the stadium was aware of the power of this achievement and the impact it can have on women's sports. They left nothing on the table cheering for the teams and kept a fiery energy all through the match. In the second period, they infused even more excitement in the environment when "You Belong With Me" began blasting on the speakers. They had a jumbotron displaying the lyrics of the song and the audience joined in.

The video has Matthew enjoying "...Something that she said..." while having coke and popcorn in his hands. Even when the lyrics disappeared, the audience continued without any accompanying tune. In the absence of instruments, the passion in the audience became even more infectious. The camera then panned to the stadium's jumbotron with some girls dancing to the song. The way everything was going, Matthew just went ahead and pointed out the obvious, "I don't think we need the lyrics." No one backed out from singing, whether it was the women, the men, or babies; everyone was under the spell of Swift and the brilliant match being played before them.

His video went viral, garnering over 4 million views. The comment section loved the whole performance. @jessimaka0252 was grateful that girlhood and hockey were coming together like this, "As a mom of two girls and loves hockey. I'm not crying you are." @crystal.hein commented how this was the happiness the world needs in the current state of affairs, "All those teeny tiny little girl voices…Anyone or anything that makes them sing out in unison like that is exactly what the world needs right now."
