Employee shares how she was fired by a short and casual letter after 20 years on the job

Companies usually don't value their employees and often see them as easily replaceable assets. Despite putting in great effort, a company can suddenly decide that an employee is not worth it and let them go. A woman who goes by @amymaurecreel shared a video where she told viewers about the unpleasant way she got fired from the company where she had been working for 20 years. The video has got 1.1 million views and 4452 comments on the social media site.

She starts the video by revealing how the entire thing happened without any proper procedure from her company. Nobody called her to explain what was going on and all she got was a letter from them. She read a few excerpts from the letter and sarcastically said, "Be warned, you're gonna want your tissues." The first part she reads is the company telling her very bluntly how her employment was "ending."

The letter goes on to add "This decision is based on a strategic business decision regarding the company's position in the current market." There was no further explanation given to the woman, even though she worked there for 20 years. Moreover, the reasoning that they provided does not seem legitimate at all. They then asked her to make sure that she shared all the "relevant files" before she left the company and also informed her that her final time sheet was due. The letter concludes by saying that she could reach out to the company if she had any doubts. She states, "Oh, my heart. Yeah. So nice."

People were quite dismayed to see a company letting a long-time employee go in such an unprofessional way and took to the comments section to express their opinions. @gockleyl said, "I worked in HR for 35 years! Never would we have sent a letter to anyone, let alone a 20-year employee! They are cowards!!" Another individual, @kit.kat.1971 expressed, "My mom was let go after 25 years. She was heartbroken. Passed a year later! I'm furious with them!" A few others in the comments had similar stories to share about how companies let go of employees without giving them any proper notice.

@paganphoenix shared, "I worked for a company out of Tampa that let employees know they were let go by canceling their login codes. Nice, huh?" Thankfully, there were instances where employees lashed out at employers for being let go without prior notice. @chitownchickie commented, "A coworker was let go. Within a few minutes, she deleted everything! This was years ago, but it's still pretty epic of a move." This goes to show how employees should always be vigilant about their employers and learn what they can do if they face a similar situation.
