People who have been on the job market will know that some jobs have very high requirements but end up offering abysmal pay and treating their employees very poorly. This disparity challenges the traditional notion that qualifications and fancy-sounding job designations somehow always lead to fair compensation and job satisfaction. A woman on TikTok, who goes by @c0rynne, shared a short clip where she exposed the stark reality of fancy corporate jobs. The video has gained 1.4 million views and 2189 comments on the social media platform.

In the video, we can see the woman wearing a Domino's employee t-shirt and looking at the camera. The text overlay reveals how the woman left her "big girl job" that requires employees to have a bachelor's degree. Instead, she took a completely surprising turn by opting to work for Domino's, where she gets a higher hourly wage and receives tips. The job is also better for her because her superiors at the fast-food chain aren't "bullies." People could very easily relate to the woman's choice to quit her supposedly fancy job to work at a pizza restaurant and shared their opinions about it in the comments section.

@phonecereal shared, "Dude, I was making $30+ an hour when delivering for Dominos, and now I do maintenance for a school district and make $24." Another individual, @mynameispaul13, also seemed to be in the same situation as the woman and commented, "Me with a biochemistry degree unable to get hired at a lab for more than 22$ but working at Subway for 25$ and tutoring for 24$." @elaina.vas expressed, "I was really embarrassed that I never completed my degree but this comments section is starting to make me feel like it was actually a smart financial decision."

Many more people chimed in with how their fancy jobs actually did not pay them well. @nickisbadattthings said, "The bank I work at requires a degree and yet the Chipotle workers next door make more than I do." @nailbunniez shared, "I was a cancer research technician and made $18 an hour. I left last year to start doing nails." @brwnsugarpapaya commented, "I'm honestly about to just work a corporate job to get savings, then leave and work at a coffee shop. I'm so over the corporate lifestyle, lol."

In fact, wage disparity is pushing many people to quit their jobs. u/Disastrous_Ollie shared how she and her coworker had decided to leave their job because of the poor pay. Their manager saw that they were both upset and decided to have a meeting to discuss a solution. The woman broke down during the meeting and shared all of her troubles related to the job. After he heard their problems, the manager pleaded for them to stay and even agreed to a raise.

The employees were very happy but quickly discovered that the pay increase was very little. The woman wrote, "I am now making 65 cents more and my male coworker is making 70 cents more." Somehow, even with such an abysmal salary increase, the woman was not given the same amount as her male coworker who worked the same job. Toward the end of the post, the woman expressed that she and her coworker had decided to quit for good.
