'You do this and we have a roof over our head, when I was afraid we wouldn't,' she said.
Helping others is a choice some people make every day, and the value of that help does not depend on how much someone has to give. Kindness is often expressed in simple actions — offering what you can, when you can, without expecting anything in return. That belief is at the center of a recent video shared by Jimmy Darts on his Instagram @jimmydarts, where a partially blind woman's small act of kindness earned her and her completely blind sister $23,000.
In the video, Darts approached a woman named Lynnae in a grocery store and asked if she had a dollar so he could buy a can of soup. Without pause, Lynnae handed him $10 and said, "Get yourself a couple of things." When he asked, "Are you sure?" she replied, "If you're hungry, that's not very much." Lynnae, who is partially blind, serves as the full-time caregiver for her twin sister, who is fully blind. To thank her for her kindness, Darts gave her $500. Lynnae accepted the gift with a smile and then shared her story. "You do this and we have a roof over our head, when I was afraid we wouldn't. In the middle of summer, when the bill is high, this will pay the rent," she said.
After learning more about their situation, Darts created a GoFundMe titled 'Let's Take Lynnae and Lynette's Worry Away For Good!' and within just 24 hours, it received over $23,000 in donations. He returned to Lynnae's home to share the news, and when he told her the amount, Lynnae froze, unsure if she had heard correctly. When he repeated it, she broke down in tears. The donations meant that she and her sister would not have to worry about losing their home. Her voice shook as she said, "Please bless them, Lord. Keep them safe. Give them everything they need. I asked the Lord to let me live longer so I can take care of her."
While Lynnae received the help she needed, there are many others in similar situations who haven’t. According to a CNN poll, nearly four in ten adults in the United States say they worry most or all of the time that their income won’t cover basic expenses. Viewers were deeply moved by the video, especially by Lynnae's strength, with some even offering to help them. @lisalashes_x wrote, "I told Heavenly Father I have to live to take care of her.' Oh, you beautiful, sweet lady. You're going to continue to take such great care of your sister."
@theunseenstory added, "Oh, I just love her. If she’s in OC, would you message me so we could bring these sweet sisters dinner regularly? Her prayer and asking the Lord to keep her alive to care for her sister — it’s truly touching." @isaac.owoh said, "This brought tears to my eyes, especially when she said 'I'd pray to God to bless them.' I also pray God keeps her to care for her sisters." @gh4ri4l commented, "This world — and this country especially — needs to take better care of our elderly and disabled citizens. Thank you for doing what you do, though." @chef_dalish shared, "I love when I see a video like this. It just reminds me that there is so much good in the world. It doesn’t make the news or social media, but it’s there. God bless you for what you do, brother."
