'No one should have to work at this age...' she said.
When Ireland Dannehold (@irelanddannehold on TikTok) saw Larry Bailey, an elderly DoorDash driver, deliver her package, she knew she had to help this poor man. So, on June 12, 2025, she immediately turned to TikTok, sharing her doorbell cam footage of the delivery guy, hoping that somebody could help her get in touch with Larry. As her video went viral with over 4 million views, she ended up starting a GoFundMe for the man, changing his life forever.
"No one should have to work at this age," Dannehold shared, as her Ring doorbell captured Bailey, an elderly man, waiting at her doorstep with a parcel in his hand. As soon as she opened the door, the man delivered the package and went away, but Dannehold couldn't stop thinking about him. Despite his age and with aching knees, Bailey had travelled from Panera and had to climb three flights of stairs to deliver the package, News4JAX, the local station, reported. A day after Dannehold shared Bailey's video, she had a lot of people asking her if they could help the man in any way. In response, she posted another video, informing them about the GoFundMe campaign for the DoorDash driver.
Surprisingly, the GoFundMe campaign saw an overwhelming donation from people, and Dannehold ended up raising a total of $22,000 for Bailey, as of June 17, 2025. "It's such a surreal experience. I totally didn't expect anything like this to happen," she said, talking about how everyone came out, contributing to the elderly man. Although it looked like Bailey was working out of compulsion, he shared that he actually enjoys DoorDash. Talking to the outlet, he said he works to save up the money and use it later when he can no longer work. Moreover, when asked about how Bailey would use the crowdfunding donations, he said, "I'll have to think about it. I won't waste it."
Bailey clearly isn't the one who is forced to work despite their growing age. Many take up hard jobs, often involving physical labor, to make ends meet. In fact, the International Labour Organization says that the percentage of older people (55+) in the global labor force increased from 10.9% in 1995 to 16.3% in 2020. And for most elderly people, monetary profit is their main motto, unlike Bailey, who also enjoys his job.
Meanwhile, reacting to the video, @mace_m commented, "I am crying! I know this exact feeling. I ordered pizza last month, and an older man just like him came to my door. He almost dropped the pizza while he was taking it out. So I grabbed it quickly and helped him. Gave him the biggest cash tip and closed the door and bawled my eyes out! I truly hate the world we live in." Similarly, @lauren wrote, "I’ve been seeing a lot of older and disabled people delivering food lately. It hurts my heart. I tip extra, but it never feels like enough."
@rissy shared, "This made me cry. What a world we live in today that our elderly have to work. My heart is so sad!" Echoing the sentiments, @corby appreciated the woman for helping Larry and wrote, "Ugh. I’m SOBBING. You have a heart of gold. I don’t know you, but I know you’re an amazing person because of this!" @jazmyn.maee exclaimed, "It is literally the sweetest interaction ever. This stuff makes me have serious hope in our crazy world!" @alyvault said, "Your GoFundMe bio is so well written! It is genuinely just showing love to another human who is a bit older and can use the funds however he pleases. I love the transparency."
