The internet is filled with surprising talent and amazing creative instincts blended with the classics. These home-grown performers don’t even need fancy instruments to recreate heartfelt old-school musical moments, bringing a fresh vibe to them. The online community felt the same way following an unexpected duet from an elderly couple capturing their hearts. Adding a charming twist to Phil Collins’ popular “In the Air Tonight,” the unlikely performer Ann—who goes by @crazyauntieann on Instagram—utilized household appliances and, of course, her music-loving partner’s witty avatar. A widely circulating video showed what appeared to be a karaoke night organized by the spirited seniors.

It all began with Ann walking to her house’s common area to grab a floor mop from the storage. The elderly woman, who is famous on social media for recreating musical masterpieces, this time around had brought a whisk with her. She neatly attached the beater to the cleaning pad’s knob, making it look like a mic. All the while, the English singer’s quintessential progressive rock tunes played in the background. Suddenly, there was a dramatic shift in Ann’s energy level as she tried to strike a chord with the song’s haunting melody and raw lyrics. Soon, Ann’s husband, who seemed clueless about what was happening, joined in to resonate with "In the Air Tonight's" uplifting drum break.

The senior assembled kitchen utensils of different sizes and placed them on a table, making them appear no less than a professional drum kit. He also had two chopsticks for the drum roll, improvising as he went along. “I can feel it, comin' in the air tonight, oh Lord. I've been waitin' for this moment, all my life, oh Lord. Can you feel it comin' in the air tonight, oh Lord?” the video creator perfectly lip-synced the song while acting like a homegrown rock star. Ann’s partner also passionately mimicked the drum beat, hitting the chopsticks hard on the utensils. The husband added more value to their heartwarming act through his authentic and feel-good gestures. For instance, he kept headbanging during his wife’s sequence, completely immersed in the rhythm. At one point in the one-and-a-half-minute performance, the content creator even hilariously removed the whisk from the cleaner pad, as if it were actually a mic attached to the stand.

Their act ended with heaping praises from people online who were impressed by the couple goals set by the elderly duo. Among the countless reactions to the wholesome video, @ekaterina_per lauded, “If it's old age, then it can only be like this.” @druheeh added, “This is who I strive to be when I grow old. You're amazing.” “Why am I crying? I think this is the most real emotional intimacy,” @organic_katyaisa expressed. “Perhaps the best drum solo of all time,” remarked @abcopps, appreciating Ann’s husband’s efforts. “So little stops us from being happy, yet we become so attached to the impossible that we forget to embrace happiness,” commented @crismpinho, emphasizing life’s sweet and everyday moments shared between loved ones. The footage managed to garner widespread attention in the form of 6.3 million views and 500,745 likes since it was first posted on January 11.
