Sooner or later, cheaters face the consequences of their actions. Reddit user u/throwaway_inherit8, known as Amelie, shared her story of heartbreak and betrayal. At 26, with a 5-year-old son, Amelie discovered her husband was cheating on her with a co-worker named Bethany when she was two months pregnant with their second child.

At the same time, her ex got Bethany pregnant as well. Amelie unfortunately had a miscarriage and her ex-husband left her to be with Bethany. "My mother-in-law has been supportive of me and has had nothing to do with my ex or his mistress and their child. She loves me and her grandson more than anything. This infuriates my ex-husband's affair partner. My in-laws cut contact with them straight away," the post read.

Her ex's mistress was jealous that the child she conceived from the affair would never get love from his grandparents despite the fact that her son had his father by his side while the same could not be said for his older half-sibling. Then the story took an interesting turn. "My mother-in-law has been very ill for a while and so she's updated her will. My ex was an only child. He was supposed to get everything. Now, my son will inherit her property. I will receive a large portion of her money and all of her belongings. Until my son turns 18, it will be in my trust. If I pass before that, my parents will take care of it. They do not know this," the post elaborated.

As soon as Amelie's ex and his mistress caught a whiff of her mother-in-law being ill, their entire attitude changed. "My ex-husband begged for forgiveness. The mistress started being nice to my mother-in-law and forced her to be around her baby. My mother-in-law is bed-bound but she says she wants to leave with a bang so she'll endure this. I haven't encouraged her to do anything and this is her choice alone. They want her money, and her son thinks he is still included in the will. He also thinks his child will now be acknowledged by his grandmother and will also receive money," Amelie continued.

However, the mother-in-law had not forgiven them and she still despises her son and his mistress for ruining the entire family. The bedridden woman's goal was to reward those who deserved it and exact revenge on her cheating son and his new partner in one go. The Reddit community applauded the mother-in-law for not supporting her son and siding with her daughter-in-law and left tons of positive comments. A share of Reddit users prayed for the mother-in-law to get well soon and others begged Amelie to update about this situation soon.

u/steppedinhairball suggested: "While your MIL is still alive, can you record messages from her to your son? Life lessons and family history that she wants him to know? You can record via video or by writing it down for her. It's a great way for her to leave some of her knowledge behind for him and for him to get to know her better after she's gone and he is more able to comprehend." u/AggravatingPatient18 wrote: "I suggest she get a second opinion for legal advice as it might be best to give him a small settlement to prevent him contesting. She might also stop allowing him and his family around from now on otherwise he may use it as evidence that she's had a change of heart with the will."

u/ivegotafastcar warned: "Make sure the home is secured and get ready to fight for years in the courts. I’ve seen children on parents get injunctions while they contest the will and will move into the home, sell everything and then the actual heirs are stuck trying to kick out the squatters since they have legal rights if they’ve been there for over 30 days. It can get extremely messy and your ex sounds like the kind of person who would rather suck the estate dry before giving up."

Amelie answered some of the comments, explaining how her mother-in-law has already thrown out everything her son left behind and he has no access to her estate anymore. She added how her ex's mother is just giving him $100 and a cuckoo clock he used to be scared of as a child. Her mother-in-law has even had the will checked by two separate lawyers and her ex-husband even willingly gave her full custody of their 5-year-old.
