A young fan's emotional encounter with Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson leads to an unforgettable surprise moment.
Who does not want to meet their silver-screen superhero in real life? During childhood, many people dream of seeing or meeting their favorite celebrities and spending some time with them to get to know who they truly are. For many, it still seems like a far-fetched fantasy, but for this boy, it turned into reality. 11-year-old Marco recently got the chance to meet Dwayne Johnson during a tour of the Disney lot. "The Snitch" star and former WWE Champion posted on his official Instagram handle (@therock) about the sweet interaction he had with his "biggest fan," who was in tears after meeting his beloved hero.
In the video, which garnered nearly 28 million views, Johnson was seen approaching a golf cart, in which Marco was sitting with other people. After exchanging pleasantries, Johnson shook hands with the teenager and appreciated him for being a fan. Additionally, the American actor extended a heartfelt gesture to Marco as the latter struggled to utter words after being starstruck. “Give me a hug,” said Johnson, prompting Marco to jump off the golf cart. Notably, Johnson was shooting for the forthcoming live-action version of the 2016 animated hit “Moana” when he met Marco. The pre-teen fan was strolling through Disneyland when Johnson happened to pass through the area at the same time. Furthermore, the wrestler-turned-actor was sporting an all-black Under Armour outfit to cover his large tattoo.
“He said I'm not as big as you,” a passerby was heard saying when the all-emotional Marco jumped off the cart to hug his hero. Afterward, the 57-second footage showed The Rock asking the boy about his time at school. “How are you doing in school? Getting good grades?” An affirmative reply earned him lifelong advice from the Hollywood star. The star himself acknowledged that grades should be “the most important” thing for school-going kids.
“They say 'never meet your heroes.' But that saying always bugged the heck outta me,” Johnson mentioned in the video's caption. He went on to advise his fans to always be grateful, kind and good to people around them, especially kids. He further wrote, “I always felt if you’re a ‘celebrity’ of any caliber and you’re LUCKY enough to have some fame and influence, then be grateful for the position you’re in.”
Furthermore, "The Fast and Furious" lead actor recalled how, during his childhood, he got the chance to meet Muhammad Ali. The most famous, influential athlete of his time “was so sweet and kind to me,” Johnson added. The boxing legend even put the young Johnson on his lap, turning it into a special moment. “That made a massive positive impression on me that I never forgot,” the ex-WWE star wrote.
While encouraging Marco to keep up the great work in school, Johnson acknowledged that crying is like any other emotion. “PS, big boys cry too,” remarked the bodybuilder. The incident has sparked massive reactions online. @kaylatheobald said, “I love that you asked how school was going and said that it’s the most important thing.” @tunenafichu19 commented, “Oh my God! I’m crying here seeing this. I hope to meet him one day as well.”
