Marriage is hard and it takes a lot of effort from both partners to make it work. This couple is a good example of that. Marie Forleo, an American entrepreneur and host of the talk show "Marie Talks," recently shared an interview clip with a couple who were called "the couple from hell" by a therapist. Instead of just accepting what the therapist said, the couple decided to prove the world wrong by following a simple trick.

The clip starts with the wife narrating what they did after having a tough time as a couple. "I dragged him to a therapist so the therapist would fix him," the woman said. However, it did not turn out the way she was hoping it would. She recalled, "The therapist called us 'a couple from hell' and they didn't want to see us anymore. So, they fired us as a client." So, eventually, the couple went to divorce lawyers and announced their separation to their children. The wife told the host, 'Harville said, 'Why don't we try again? Why don't we start going on some dates? At the end of every day, let me get a calendar and see if we can make it through one day without negativity. If we made it through, we get a smiley and at the end of the day, if either of us had negativity, we did a frowny face.'

"And we just did a frowny face, frowny face, and a frowny face," she shared, adding that they were trying very hard not to be negative. "And for that, we practiced and practiced and eventually began to change and learned it's not what you say but how you say it," the woman concluded. The video was captioned, "This couple was labeled the 'couple from hell' by a therapist!"

People were impressed by how this couple made their marriage work. @akshatkbaranwal commented, "It's not about compatibility. It's about the efforts and willingness to be together." @laa_leufer wrote, "In my opinion, the best people to give relationship advice are the elderly people, who have overcome the obstacles!" @lindelwe said, "It worked because they both wanted it to work. They both put in an effort. It's not magic. Relationships aren't magic. They're about intentionality. Waking up and choosing to make it work."

@noobie_soong_soong shared, “It just goes to show that relationships only work when they are willing to put the effort together to make it work. It's easy to get a therapist to say, 'This relationship isn't working.' It's easy for the lawyer to draw up the papers for the divorce and it's even easy to bring up the kids and announce you guys want to divorce... but it's not easy to just sit together and go through day after day or disappoint expectations and still staying strong to make the relationship work." @ixhaaaa expressed, "It's because you guys never gave up on each other despite having a lot of problems and negative situations. You guys chose to be together and change for good. It took time, but eventually it happened!"
