"Mean Girls" star Rachel McAdams was bestowed with the "Hollywood Walk of Fame," but her "About Time" co-star Domhnall Gleeson's speech turned out to be the highlight of the event. Poking fun at his rom-com co-star, Gleeson began his speech by declaring that McAdams doesn't deserve this honor. He remarked that Hollywood taught him one must not have it all. Referring to McAdams, he praised the actress for being everyone's favourite, and it's not "fair" to be the best actress amongst all. "It is selfish of you to be a devoted mother of two, putting family above all else, and a huge movie star continually knocking it out of the park commercially and artistically," he added per Entertainment Weekly.

Praising her for her incredible talent in genres ranging from comedy to drama, "The Paper" star believes that it isn't "fair" for the actress to hold so much talent, while being the sweetest person he has ever met in his life. Taking a jab at the stars who have previously been honored with the "Hall of Fame," Gleeson called them "crazy" people, and stated that McAdams doesn't deserve to be amongst them. "Lot of these people (referring to Hollywood Walk of Fame recipients) are crazy. You are not, you're amazing. So how have you made it work?" he remarked.

According to a report authored by parenting expert KJ Dell'Antonia, social teasing among friends is known to make the bond stronger. It was noted that when friends roast each other, it's a sign that they know the other person quite well. "After all, only someone very close to you, or someone very mean, will tell you that your feet have a certain unappealing jungle quality," the author pens. Teasing can be distinctly distinguished into two categories: pro-social and anti-social. Where anti-social teasing makes a person feel humiliated in front of others, pro-social teasing has the opposite effect. According to Dr. Peter Gray, a psychology professor in Boston, pro-social teasing by friends with the right intent can be playful, humble egos and instill humility in an individual.
Gleeson recalled the experience working alongside McAdams in their 2013 rom-com "About Time" and stated that her incredible performance made him genuinely believe that he could time-travel for three months and that they were indeed happily married in a small town in England, per Yahoo News. For the unversed, in "About Time," the duo played a couple who were in an unhappy marriage, which Gleeson's character attempts to fix using time travel. Gleeson's speech, a sweet speech in disguise of a roast, was received with chuckles and applause from the attendees at the event. Gleeson's speech, which was presumed to be a jab, turned out to be a sweet tribute no one saw coming.
