Bowie, the Uber dog, steals the spotlight in Colorado, becoming a viral sensation after joining his owner for rides and winning hearts online.
We often come across dogs who don’t shy away from wearing multiple hats. From performing household chores to solving some of the biggest crime mysteries, these furry creatures are man's best companions. A man felt the same way after his Labrador Retriever joined him as his co-worker while transporting people from one place to another. The Colorado-based Uber driver, Kevin Ferman, who runs a dog YouTube channel under his pet Bowie's (@Bowietheuberdog) name, recently shared a heartwarming video of the canine entertaining his customers. The mere act of accompanying his owner won the dog overnight fame, as reported by 9News.
They say a dog’s loyalty is a gift that one can never take for granted, especially when times are tough. This holds true even in the case of Bowie, as the dog had not only won hearts but also helped earn recognition for his owner. “Colorado’s such a dog-friendly place, so I knew people would like it,” the outlet quoted Ferman as saying. The Uber driver began taking his canine along with him last year, without realizing the potential of his move. Soon, Bowie’s presence during Uber rides made him recognizable in his city. Those who booked Ferman to move from one place to another were amused to see a dog inside the car as a co-pilot. The customers' testimonials suggested that they were impressed with the pet’s charm.
Moreover, the wholesome reactions from passengers upon finding a furry friend waiting for them prompted Ferman to share it all on social media. Initially, the videos showcasing Bowie greeting the customers didn’t gain any traction until April of last year. Somehow, the idea of an Uber co-pilot in the form of a dog started resonating with the online community. “The craziest thing happened. It started getting tens of thousands of views overnight,” Ferman told the outlet. After that, people kept showering their love on the canine, honoring him with the title "The Uber Dog." Bowie reportedly boasts hundreds of thousands of followers across social media. “If we’re picking up from bars late at night, a typical reaction is like, ‘Oh. My. God.,’” Ferman added. One of their recent interactions was with an elderly woman, who later became the dog’s fan after knowing more about him.
“I got my little co-pilot with me today. Meet Bowie, the Colorado 'uber dog' who's winning hearts as the ultimate co-pilot,” said Ferman, introducing the dog to the passenger. The grandma, heading to Phyllis, was excited about Bowie joining them for the ride. While adoring the pet, the woman emphasized how the Uber driver had the best companion. When she expressed her love for dogs, Ferman couldn’t agree more. “I love them too. They make the day so much better,” he emphasized. Afterward, they started discussing how just some water and food could help in becoming the canine’s best friend forever.
Revealing that Bowie was once a rescue puppy from Albuquerque, Ferman said, “When I got him at five months, he had pretty bad separation anxiety. So, I just started bringing him around with me everywhere because he never wanted to leave my side.” Since then, the dog has completed at least 4,000 rides while accompanying his caring owner. The nearly 12-minute-long footage drew widespread attention on the video-sharing platform, including 411,501 views and countless reactions.
