Pet parents have a never-ending love for their furry companions even after years of losing them. That bond is so pure and innocent that seeing a pooch from the same breed surely takes them on a walk down memory lane. But life works in weird ways and not everyone can be capable of having a pet. But when one granddaughter knew about her grandpa's love for dachshunds, she decided to bring a smile to his face. A lifestyle content creator on Tiktok, @lydiasnontoxiclife shared a video of her grandpa going to a dachshund meet-up and his reaction is absolutely adorable.

When her sister forwarded an Instagram post about the "dachshund meet-up," Lydia wasn't sure if her grandpa would be up for a 2-hour journey, as per Newsweek. But the man was so excited to take a trip to Greenville, South Carolina, the place where Lydia's mom and sister lived, to witness the pooches. Several pet parents brought their dogs and the grandpa couldn't hold back his joy. He petted the tiny dogs and spent a lot of time capturing them on his phone's camera. His face lighted up when he was surrounded by so many dachshunds and turns out, he used to have one too.

As a 10-year-old boy in 1947, Lydia's grandpa owned a red-haired dachshund named Bingo and he was proudly showing off his pet to other pet parents. "I like to get another one. But grandma says no," he explained. After a while, he simply sat in a corner and admired the pooches running around in the room. "Bingo was the prettiest," Grandpa pointed out at the end of the meet-up. Just the sheer happiness on his face showed how much Grandpa loved the event. The video garnered over a million views and people wanted Lydia to get the old man a dachshund. When @heckle39 sarcastically said, "I need to talk to grandma," Lydia responded, "They have good reasons not to get one (dachshund), but I'm going to look for more opportunities for him to meet dachshunds."

"Please get this man a dachshund," said @hifromchelci to which Lydia replied, "I wish I could but he's a bit too old to take care of it." @kporcella quipped, "Grandma better let him get a baby!" @andrea4766 chimed in, "As a doxie mama of two this brought me so much joy. Also, someday when I’m a grandparent, I hope I have a grandkid to take me to meetups. Get that man another dachshund too." @mmay347 added, "Please make this a more regular thing for him. This is the absolute best."

Among many adorations for Grandpa, some people wanted Lydia to reveal Bingo. So she made a follow-up video where she goes to her Grandpa's place to tell him how strong he has been going on social media. The old man was speechless in joy and when Lydia asked him to show a picture of Bingo, he gladly agreed. Finding the vintage picture of Bingo from many other pictures from his past, Grandpa was reminiscing about his old times. He proudly showed off Bingo's photo to the camera as Lydia was recording. The granddaughter had even gifted him a stuffed dog toy as he couldn't take care of a real dog. The video also showed a pencil-sketched photo of Lydia's Grandpa embracing Bingo which was made by her sister.
