Precious moment captures dog's adorable reaction to heartbeats from pregnant owner's belly

Animal companions and babies not only form the cutest duo but also make us realize that some precious moments in life can be as simple as they get. A pet parent shared a video that shows the moment his beloved dog discovered they were expecting a child. An American Bulldog named Mino can be seen sitting close to his human companion's baby bump in a video posted to TikTok by massi_e_mino. Massi, the pet pooch's other human friend, sits nearby with a stethoscope, which he places on Mino's ears. He then places the stethoscope on the pregnant woman's stomach. The video clip received more than 61 million views and was perfectly captioned, "This is life." The video was also shared on Reddit by u/Dark_Wolf04 under the caption: "Dog hearing baby’s heartbeat through mother's stomach," garnering over 30 thousand upvotes. 

Mino's reaction in the clip indicates that he has heard the heartbeat of the unborn baby inside. Moments later, Massi removes the stethoscope from Mino's ears, and the dog begins licking the pregnant woman's stomach as if greeting the baby growing inside. Mino then turns his attention to the woman herself, licking her several times. He then returns to licking her stomach, while Massi places the stethoscope around the dog's ears to hear the heartbeat. While it's difficult to be certain, Mino appears to be aware that his owner is expecting a child. Experts and pet owners have long debated whether dogs can detect pregnancy in humans.

TikTok users were left in complete awe stumbling upon this site. "The way he stops when he hears the heartbeat," noticed @banksy_25. "That has to be the sweetest dog I’ve ever seen in my life," wrote @renatahopeadkins. "This is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen," adored @user6581337955771. "Going to be the best big brother!" added @leslie5326. According to a 2021 study published in the scientific journal titled Animals, pregnant women go through several hormonal changes that can cause subtle changes in their body odor. They hypothesized that because dogs have a hypersensitive sense of smell, they could detect these changes. Philippa Pavia, vice president of medical strategy at Bond Vet in New York City, previously stated, "Although there isn't clear research to confirm dogs' ability to sniff out pregnancy, there are lots of anecdotal reports." 

Dogs have an uncanny ability to sense our emotions, offering comfort during difficult times and sharing in our joy during happy times. Another video shows their dog's adorable reaction when she realized her owner was pregnant. Liz Lovery was eight months pregnant and cuddling with her golden retriever, Winnie when the baby started kicking. Winnie looked around when she noticed movement. She then leaned in closer, her head resting on Lovery's stomach. Winnie got her head up as she snuggled on the belly and felt the kick, and once she realized what she had felt, she went back to snuggling. Later in the video, 1-year-old Winnie stands up and places a paw on Lovery's shoulder while staring at her belly. She then leaned against Lovery's stomach. Lovery then kissed Winnie and gave her a heartwarming headbutt.
