The pandemic led to a rapid adoption of video calling and Zoom meetings, and also saw a number of clips with children or pets interrupting people during online conferences go viral. Along with professionals and experts addressing people from home, even newscasters were interrupted by their kids and curious cats. One of them is Scott Connell, a meteorologist who shared hilarious outtakes of trying to read the weather report as his dog barked in the background on Facebook.

In the video, Connell was set to read the weather report for NBC-affiliated KSDK when his dog Miss Maple started barking in the background. The man politely asked, "Maple can you stop just for a second." The dog stopped barking, but the moment the meteorologist was done with the countdown, she started barking once again. The man was clearly annoyed and closed his eyes before starting over, only to get interrupted again but continued regardless. As he reads "Cold air continues to cross the area tonight. Potential for some frost and freeze for some of us, warm-up is going to take," Connell gets cut off by loud barking as his dog is busy chasing a squirrel.

Connell then clapped to call for his dog and said, "Hey, hey, come here." The man asked Miss Maple to sit right beside him as he read the report to avoid any disturbance. He read the report once again but when he had almost reached the end of the report the dog started barking once again. Connell exhaustedly rolled his eyes this time and let out a deep sigh. "Maple," he called out, pleading with the dog to give him enough time to finish the report. He started reading again and got interrupted again, seemingly on the verge of giving up.

But he started again and softly said, "Maple, excuse me! Hello, come here. Do you want to be in this tease? Is that what you want? Come here." He added, "Just lean up here, I can do this." The man looked at the camera as he held on to his dog. He reported after the countdown, "Another night where we may have frost or a freeze for some of us and the cool weather is sticking around for much of the week. We show you when the warm-up finally gets here." He finished and waited for a couple of seconds before Miss Maple barked once again.

In the caption of the video, Connell wrote, "Does anybody else have a dog that really wants to be part of every experience? Working from home certainly has its challenges. Little Miss Maple apparently thought the squirrel in the backyard was worthy of my attention while trying to tape the tease for the late news, Tuesday night. She's just a little spunky for sure!" and people took to the comments section to share their take on the hilarious clip. @NicoleWiebe asked, "This was great! But what kinda of doggo is Maple? I wish you would’ve shown her!" to which Connell replied that Maple is a King Charles Cavalier. @MuthoniThree-Sixty commented, "Maple is as unhappy with the weather as I am. Glad she/he protested on our behalf."

@DeniseFarhenholtz remarked, "This was awesome Scott. It was what we all needed - a little laughter to brighten our day. Also, we all have things that happen when we don't want them to, but we all get through them. Thank you so much for making my day brighter."
