For many, anesthesia is simply a short nap; however, for a few, it's a full-blown adventure that results in pure comedy gold. While some patients wake up just to confess their secret crush on a nurse, others wake up convinced that they have been kidnapped. Similarly, Dr. Michael Denk, MD (@drmichaeldenk on Instagram), shared a hilarious reel of one of his patients trying to fight anesthesia. Well, as the anesthesia kicked in, this playful woman decided to put her abilities to the test, challenging herself to keep singing "Wannabe" by the Spice Girls for as long as possible before she eventually dozed off into deep slumber.

The moment the doctor started the anesthesia drip, the patient immediately jumped into the singing challenge as if it were the world's most renowned talent show. With uncontrollable excitement, she went on to flaunt a few dance moves while still lying on the hospital bed. Simultaneously, the overlay text read, "Watch my patient try to fight anesthesia." The patient was having the best time of her life with the unusual "anesthesia challenge"—until anesthesia took over, and the woman gradually slipped into her dreamland. Dr. Denk took to the captions to talk about this particular patient who had the most wonderful way of dealing with the anesthesia influence.

He wrote, "This patient came into the OR with the best energy, and when the anesthesia challenge started, she did not disappoint." Further, the doctor shared that although her eyes weren't fully closed, the patient had reached full sedation towards the end of the video. "We do these challenges to bring a little fun to the OR before surgery, and moments like this remind us why we love what we do," Dr. Denk revealed. The Instagram reel received an overwhelming response on social media with over 85 million views online.

Meanwhile, reacting to the video, @charlienellum revealed, "I remember going in for surgery, and the anesthesiologist said, 'Okay, I'm going to give you the anesthesia now; it might hurt a little. Me, two seconds later, 'Ow! Ya THINK?!' And then I woke up in the recovery room because someone was snoring too loudly. It was me. I was snoring too loudly." @distraction_figures shared, "Being under anesthesia is crazy. 1 second, you're on the operating table. The next, you're in a wheelchair with a half-melted popsicle in a cup." @corieallegory commented, "Went under anesthesia for an emergency c-section thinking I was going to die, and all I remember was the anesthesiologist’s beautiful blue eyes, telling me it’s going to be OK, you’re going to be OK, and since then I’ve had dreams about that gorgeous man’s eyeballs."

@bancroft.stephanie wrote, "I love this so much because I’m absolutely terrified of going under. My mother-in-law passed away at 55 under Anastasia. So going under is traumatic for me now. Glad to know there are doctors like you." On the other hand, @allison.jacobsss said, "I am going to try this! I have surgery scheduled for the end of April, and I am fully delusional in my belief that I can beat the anesthesia! I mean, who the f*** wouldn’t want the anesthesia to work for surgery… But let’s not get wrapped up in the details!" @abril_daniele commented, "Would be amazing if the doctor wakes her up by continuing the song, wouldn’t be?"
