Doctor told a woman in labor to 'compose herself' as she cried beside her late husband's urn. One contraction later, she sat up and fired back

When she was six months pregnant, her husband died tragically in an accident. She didn’t know that bringing their child into the world would prove to be hammer and tongs, thanks to a deranged doctor who was assigned her case. In a June 23, 2026, TikTok video, @lananotsosecret, a widowed mom, recalled this incident from early 2026 when she went into labor. Instead of guiding and soothing her through the delivery process, the doctor amplified her pain by pausing the labor midway and asking her to “compose herself.” After the contractions were concluded, she fired back at the doctor with a justified protest. Her video has since had over 535,000 views and almost 50,000 likes.

Offputting presence
On her late husband’s 37th birthday, the woman rushed to the hospital with his urn to keep him close. Just from being in the doctor’s presence, she could tell that the doctor wasn’t comfortable and the vibes were offputting. She ended up getting into labor naturally, so the doctor had no choice but to operate, even before they put her on induction medication. Instead of supporting her through the delivery process, the doctor started ranting questionable things, one after the other.
For instance, during the peak of the contraction, when she was about nine centimeters dilated, tears burst from her eyes, and the doctor ignorantly said, “What’s wrong? What hurts?” Racked with pain, the only words that the woman could utter were, “I miss my husband.”
Obstetric torment
The doctor stepped back, saying that she would give her some time to “compose herself.” Everyone, including the woman’s mother, her mother-in-law, and a doula, simply got still and looked at her in bewilderment. At that point, she got to know that the doctor had been mumbling bizarre things throughout the day, threatening to kick everyone out from the delivery room, so none of them was speaking out of fear.
When the contraction ended, the woman sat up straight and vented out her frustration on the doctor. The doctor responded with a lengthy ramble about why she did that, that the mother needed to be in the right headspace to deliver the baby, how she needed to focus on her breathing, and things like that. Since the contractions were unstoppable, it was weird to think that the doctor would pause the labor for 20 minutes or so.
An unhinged doctor
So the woman started to push and had her baby half delivered even before the doctor returned with a midwife. Even though the baby came out successfully, the mother started hemorrhaging after the placenta was delivered. The doctor told her she'd do a manual internal sweep. It was an emergency situation because she had lost so much blood her mind was drifting to the ceiling. She asked her midwife to bring laughing gas, and the moment she took an inhale, the doctor stopped the sweep procedure, looked straight in her eyes, and said, "When [you're] done with this, I'm going to take that away from you. I think you like it too much."

After everything, the doctor asked her if she "care that much" about stitches and slipped a mirror to showcase the damage that was done while she gave birth. Agonized, the woman just asked her to do it if it was required. Being a patient, she wasn’t supposed to answer this question.
Aftereffects of prolonged labor
According to a study, prolonged labor, exactly what the woman experienced, is one of the main causes behind postpartum hemorrhage (PPH), accounting for nearly 70% to 80% of the cases. It occurs in approximately 1% to 3% of deliveries. When left untreated, it accounts for 20% of maternal deaths. However, it is unclear whether a membrane sweep is the correct procedure for treating PPH. As the NHS describes, an internal sweep is something that is used to induce the labor rather than treat the postpartum symptoms or blood loss.
Viewers pointed out the doctor displayed more than what could be called a blatant “lack of bedside manners” and “medical trauma.” @sarbearr571 commented, “Please file a complaint! That's 100% not okay whatsoever.” @crookedorwhat reflected, “You had a doula; what the heck were they doing during all of this?” @blueeyedbabe30 echoed the same thought, “I'm just surprised the midwife didn't say anything.” Others urged her to file a complaint against the doctor, which she did, according to a follow-up video.
The woman described that the day following her delivery, she communicated the whole stance and filed a formal complaint to the chief of staff in the hospital. She also had a lengthy conversation with the Patient Relations department, which got her an apology from the doctor. She declined it because she didn’t want to speak with her ever again.
