Divorce forced mom to sell her ‘favorite thing.’ 6 years later, her ex showed up with a surprise

A couple of days ago, Lexie Lee Bold learned an impactful message for life — “never give up on love." She witnessed her divorced parents rekindling their romance after 6 years of separation, celebrating her mother's birthday, and spending time together. However, the birthday gift he had in store for his ex-wife was awe-inspiring — something their daughter would carry with her for life. After the divorce, Bold’s mother had to sell her Harley-Davidson. As time elapsed, the Bold couple found their way back to each other, and on the creator's mother’s birthday this year, the father bought the Harley back from the same person it was sold to.

The video was shared by Bold, who goes by @lexieleebold on Instagram. The text overlay read, “6 years ago, my parents split up. The divorce meant my mother had to sell the most favourite thing in her life. And my dad found the woman who bought her bike and bought it back as her birthday gift.” This token of love possibly formed the foundation of their renewed relationship. Her mother was blindfolded and was guided inside the house by her father, as the bike was parked in the living room. Shocked by the surprise, her mother showered kisses on her bike and her thoughtful husband.

But, the trend has been on the rise since 1970 in America. In each year since the 1970s, more than one million children have been affected by divorce, as stated by the National Library of Medicine in a study named Epidemiology of divorce.

Research shows that while divorce has declined in the age group of 20s or 30s, it has surged in couples who are at the age of 50. “Getting a divorce is never easy, but it’s going to look a little different in your 50s when you’ve potentially been with someone for a long time,” said Kelly Cichy, PhD, a professor of human development and family science at Kent State University in Ohio.
